The Scoop

The Scoop

Posted: Mar 4th 2023 By: Compiled by Oklafan Staff

NEWS
It’s being reported that Rebel [2nd] will no longer be part of Britt Baker’s faction in AEW. Reason being is that Britt and Jamie Hayter are now in a babyface role in their feud against Saraya and Toni Storm, and Rebel’s persona isn’t a great fit in that dynamic.

EC3 has battled his fair share of concussions throughout his career. During his latest stint in WWE, EC3 suffered a concussion during his match against Velveteen Dream at "NXT TakeOver Brooklyn IV" and then again six weeks after that bout. In 2019, EC3 suffered another one during a live event match against Kalisto, Lince Dorado, Sin Cara, and Titus O'Neil. The current NWA star recently spoke to "The Wrestling Outlaws" on Sportskeeda and claimed O'Neil has concussed him more than anyone else. "I mean, I've been concussed by Titus O'Neil more times than anybody in my life," EC3 said. "I'm constantly getting concussed and I do everything to protect my opponent. Hey, he's good at charity." Vince Russo asked if he thinks size affects the way certain larger opponents move in the ring, but EC3 said "nobody's bigger" than Brock Lesnar and he "moves like a gazelle." He recalled O'Neil having a "prestigious" college career, but that doesn't always translate to the ring. The two have shared the ring dozens of times since their days in Florioda Championship Wrestling. O'Neil played college football for the University of Florida before transitioning to a career with WWE. He was primarily featured in a tag team with Darren Young and the two won their first WWE Tag Team Championship in 2015. In recent years, O'Neil has focused on charity work with WWE and hasn't competed since November 2020. EC3 was released from WWE in 2020 at the onset of the pandemic. He briefly returned to Impact Wrestling that year and focused on launching his own promotion called Control Your Narrative. EC3 joined NWA in 2022 and remains a featured talent.

Finn Balor and Beth Phoenix were guests on WWE’s "The Bump" on Wednesday.

Full matches added to WWE’s YouTube this opast week include MVP & The Great Khali vs. Batista & Kane from the February 29, 2008 edition of "SmackDown" and A. J. Styles vs. John Cena vs. from the February 27, 2018 edition of "SmackDown".

Week 2 of the WWE block on A&E featured the "Biography" of Jake "The Snake" Roberts, currently employed by AEW, and the "Rivals" episode saw The Undertaker vs Mankind. The "Biography" episode drew 453,000 viewers, down 42,000 viewers from the nWo "Biography" of last week. It did a 0.12 rating in the 18-49, down 0.03 from the prior week and placed #25 on the top 50 cable chart. Rivals did 421,000 viewers, down 23,000 viewers from last week's Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant episode. It did a 0.12 in the 18-49 demo and placed #23 on the top 50 cable chart.

Ric Flair wished Ricky Steamboat a happy 70th birthday: “Happy Birthday To Ricky Steamboat- My GREATEST OPPONENT EVER!! The Best Baby EVER!! No One Close Except Shawn Michaels! Good Company To Be In! WOOOOO! @REALSteamboat”.

In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, readers would vote Ric Flair’s Last Match as the third Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic of 2022. And while typically, those who are nominated for such controversial awards never comment, that isn’t Flair’s style, and he has gone on a profanity-filled rant against those who voted for him. Noting he made a whopping $300,000 by disgusting the fans. Which considering the show was available on pay-per-view and drew 6,800 fans for a live gate of $448,502 is more than believable. "You know what I got to say to that? I made three hundred thousand dollars. Go f*ck yourselves. That’s right, I made three hundred thousand dollars, disgusting you. Disgust yourself for three hundred grand and get in the shape that I got in. How about that, motherf*ckers?" While the concept of a last match wasn’t really offensive, the fact Flair was known to be in poor health going in did have many fans concerned. Nevertheless, the fact Flair teased having a heart attack did leave a bad taste in many fans’ mouths, and the fact he legitimately passed out twice due to depredation does make it understandable why readers of Dave Meltzer’s newsletter would be “disgusted” regardless of how much Flair earned.

The Iron Sheik recently tweeted "ME VS. THE @cocainebear AT THE WRESTLEMANIA WITH THE JABRONI JAKE ROBERTS SPECIAL REF".

Author Kenny Casanova provided an update on his upcoming projects. Ken Patera’s Weight of the World goes up for preorders status next week. Earl Hebner’s The Official Story is under way and they are hopeful for a fall release. He is working with Greg Valentine on a book and perhaps with Rob Black of XPW fame.

Brett DiBiase, the youngest son of Ted DiBiase, has pled guilty to a federal charge related to misspending of welfare money. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Brett spent some time in WWE but mostly in Florida Championship Wrestling. He later became a referee.

J. T. Hamilton III announced he is being forced to retire due to 3 fractured vertebrae.

Lady Venom had surgery on her leg on February 27th. Oklafan wishes her a speedy recovery.
