NEWS
There were 6,900 tickets out for the "WWE Monday Night RAW" event at BOK Center in Tulsa as of that Monday morning. The last time RAW was in Tulsa, one year ago, the paid was barely 3,000.
"WWE Monday Night RAW", which broadcast from the BOK Center in Tulsa, did another monster number coming off the "Royal Rumble", with 2.11 million viewers and a 0.64 rating in 18-49, making it the most watched show, in both cable and network television, for the day. "RAW" was first in women 18-49, more than doubled everything on cable in men 18-49, more than doubled everything on cable in 18-34 and beat everything but ABC's "The Bachelor" on television in that demo. "RAW" was seventh in total viewers, trailing only news shows. It was down 10% in viewers from last week's 30th anniversary episode, but that was to be expected. It was down 8% in 18-49 and down 8% in 18-34. From last year's show after the "Royal Rumble", "RAW" was up 13% in viewers, up 34% in 18-49, and up 45% in 18-34. This comes even with the decline in homes reached by USA Network. Factoring that out, the gains were 20% in viewers, 42% in 18-49, and 54% in 18-49. ESPN in competition aired Virginia vs. Syracuse college basketball (1,007,000/25) and Baylor vs. Texas college basketball (895,000/0.26) as the major sports competition. The NBA had a Lakers vs. Nets game on NBA TV that did 498,000/0.15. The highest rated show besides "RAW" on cable was "Below Deck" on Bravo that did 1,201,000/0.31. The three hours for "RAW" were:
-Hour 1: 2.22 million viewers
-Hour 2: 2.17 million viewers
-Hour 3: 1.96 million viewers
The post-"Royal Rumble" episode of "WWE MNoinday Night RAW" this past Monday from the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK drew a total of 2,114,000 viewers, down 230,000 viewers from the 30th anniversary episode. But taking that show away, it's been the most-watched show since August 1, 2022. "RAW" started with 2,219,000 viewers in the first hour and then dropped to 2,168,000 viewers in the second hour, before ending the night with 1,955,000 viewers. In the 18-49 demo, Raw was #1, #2, and #3 in the top 50 cable chart for the night with 0.66, 0.65, and 0.60 respectively for an average of 0.64, down 0.06 from last week. Raw beat everything on cable and network television and was #1 overall for the night.
Nathan Estrada and Logan Knight both made appearances as security members during the brawl between The Judgment Day and Edge on "WWE Monday Night RAW" on January 20th inb Tulsa. Wayne Black also made an appearance as the attendant to the entrance during the VIP Lounge segment.
AEW star Ricky Starks accompanied Cody Rhodes to WWE's "Royal Rumble" and was hilariously picked on a CCTV-type picture which leaked on the internet. After the image was leaked, Starks had a five-star reaction. "Damn they bought back GTV," he wrote, adding a laughing emoji. GTV is an old angle from the Attitude Era days where several hidden-camera videos were being broadcast without knowing who was behind them. The angle eventually led to nothing. Starks and Rhodes are big friends and Starks considers Cody a mentor.
Rey Mysterio was pulled from the "Royal Rumble" because he was injured in his match with Karrion Kross on "SmackDown" the night before. They used his injury to further the storyline with Rey's son Dominik, explaining why he did not participate in the "Royal Rumble" due to a possible attack by Dominik..
On a recent podcast, Mick Foley addressed the rumors that he had fallen out of favor with WWE, as some fans had speculated since he wasn’t at "RAW XXX". Foley denied having any heat with the company. Indeed, his comments, which noted that he spent the last month on the road for a show for the company, and made mention of traveling with Kurt Angle to see the infamous milk truck, meeting with Bill Goldberg related collectors, and traveling to WWE offices in Connecticut, highly suggest that he may be part of the upcoming season of "WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures" show that will air on the A&E Network.
Wrestlenomics reported the tentative dates for the next six episodes of "Biography: WWE Legends on A&E".
-Sunday, February 26: Jake "The Snake" Roberts
-Sunday, March 19: The Iron Sheik
-Sunday, March 26: Dusty Rhodes
They also reported the following schedule for new episodes of "WWE Rivals" which will air following the "Biography" shows.
-February 19th: Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant
-February 26th: The Undertaker vs. Mankind
-April 16th: Steve Austin vs. Shawn Michaels
Content added to WWE’s YouTube page this past week includes Goldberg vs. Evolution (Batista, Randy Orton, & Triple H, w/ Ric Flair) from the November 17, 2003, edition of "WWE Monday Night RAW".
A new report sheds some light on the topics planned for the next season of "Dark Side of the Ring". While there's many who declined interviews, Mick Foley, Jim Cornette, Terry Funk, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan have all been interviewed for the upcoming season, which is currently in production & does not yet have a premiere date. A few of the topics planned include:
-Abdullah the Butcher
-Mike Awesome
-Bam Bam Bigelow
-Sunny

Oklafan extends condolences to Corporal Punishment on the passing of his father on February 1st.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Lanny Poffo, who passed away February 2nd at the age of 68. At the time of this writing, the cause of death has not been released. Poffo was part of the Poffo wrestling family, which included his father Angelo Poffo and his brother Randy Savage. Lanny would make his debut in 1974, forming a team with his father which would compete across various NWA territories, even holding the Detroit version of the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Poffo also received NWA World Title opportunities against Harley Race and Terry Funk. In 1978, he wrestled his brother for the first time and would trade the Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling Heavyweight Title back and forth with him. After battling the likes of Tully Blanchard, Adrian Adonis, and Roddy Piper in Pacific Northwest Wrestling, Poffo journeyed to his father's promotion, International Championship Wrestling, based in Kentucky and remained there until it closed in 1984. He and Savage continued their feud and would trade the ICW Heavyweight Title between themselves for almost the entire duration of the company's existence. Poffo then made his way to Mid-South Wrestling where he had only a brief stay until May 1984. During his time here, he formed a tag team with Rick Rood (later Rick Rude) and were the initial opponents of The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey, w/ Jim Cornette) in their arrival to MSW. Poffo followed Rood to the Memphis territory (though he was not part of the talent exchange negotiated between those two companies) and once again found himself back in the presence of his brother Randy, but this time, they would team up and feud against The Rock-N-Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson), as well as Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Rich and The Fabulous Ones (Stan Lane & Steve Keirn). Poffo then departed to the WWF, again following on the heels of his brother. It was here that Lanny developed the gimmick of writing and reading poetry to the crowd, which he then would throw out attached to Frisbees. Poffo initially enjoyed a minor undefeated push against many of the regular WWF enhancement talents of the time, but found himself soon in that category himself. Though he would get more offence than most of the enhancement talent, he still wasn't seeing a lot of wins. But Poffo was content for a couple of years and periodically got some featured presentation on angles. Things changed in 1989 when he turned heel and adopted the persona of "The Genius", which played on Poffo's own high intelligence (he reportedly had little patience for school and could pass tests with little to no studying or preparation). This brought a renewed success for Poffo as he was undefeated for almost 8 months (bar one untelevised match against Koko B. Ware). This earned him a match against WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan, which was the pinnacle of Poffo's career as Poffo won the match by Countout. It was the first time in 21 months that Hogan had suffered any type of defeat. Poffo and Randy Savage would then take the belt and destroy it backstage. But despite entering 1990 in the main event group of the WWF card, by March he was feuding with Brutus Beefcake and his momentum had cooled off. By the winter of 1990, he was once again wrestling in the opening match on the card. Poffo would finish out this tenure in the WWF as the manager of The Beverly Brothers (Beau Beverly & Blake Beverly), occasionally competing in 6-man tag team matches with them. He left the WWF after the "Survivor Series" in 1992, competing on the independent circuit around the world, before returning in 1994 for a 2-month stint. He then signed a contract with WCW and was supposed to portray "Gorgeous George" as Randy Savage had purchased the rights to that name. But according to Poffo, even though he dyed his hair blonde and went through an intense training regimen, WCW never contacted him and the Gorgeous George gimmick went to Randy Savage's then-girlfriend, Stephanie Bellars. There are reports that he competed in 1 or 2 dark matches prior to WCW TV Tapings, but for 5 years, he never officially competed for WCW despite being under contract. Rumors also swirled that he was the man in the "Willie the Wildcat" mascot costume for WCW, but those were also discredited by Poffo. After his WCW contract ended, Poffo competed sporadically on the independent circuit. In 2015, he inducted his brother posthumously into the WWE Hall of Fame and in 2018, he accompanied Jay Lethal to the ring or his match against Flip Gordon at the "All In" pay-per-view event. In total, Poffo has 9 documented Oklahoma wrestling appearances. The earliest was February 19, 1984 with a victory over Jerry Grey at an MSW event in Oklahoma City. The last was at a WWF event in Oklahoma City where he teamed with Mr. Perfect in a Handicap Match against Hulk Hogan. The result of that match is unknown.
Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about Lanny Poffo's passing, which you can read by clicking here.
The SLAM! Wrestling staff also wrote a story entitled "Wrestling world mourns Lanny Poffo" which you can read by clicking here.
The wrestling world paid tribute to Lanny Poffo after his death was announced last week. “WWE is saddened to learn that Lanny Poffo, best known to sports-entertainment fans as The Genius, passed away at 68 years of age,” read a post on {http://www.wwe.com]WWE.com[/url]. “The son of Angelo Poffo and younger brother of WWE Hall of Famer 'Macho Man' Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo had a style all his own. Arriving in WWE in 1985 alongside his brother, 'Leaping' Lanny Poffo was one of the first high-flyers in WWE. While he achieved some success as a fan favorite reading his own poetry and throwing Frisbees to the crowd, he reached new heights as The Genius while managing Mr. Perfect. WWE extends its condolences to Poffo’s family, friends and fans.” The NWA, where Poffo spent several years wrestling earlier in his career, tweeted, “The National Wrestling Alliance is saddened to hear about the passing of Lanny Poffo. Our thoughts are with his friends, family and fans.” AEW wrote, “AEW joins the wrestling world in mourning the passing of Lanny Poffo. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans.” The Cauliflower Alley Club added, “We are deeply saddened to hear that Leaping Lanny Poffo has passed away at age 68. We send our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and fans throughout the world over as the Man known as The Genius and the poet laureate of the WWE rests in peace. Thanks for the memories.” Several wrestlers from Poffo’s era, including The Iron Sheik, Virgil, and many others also tweeted their thoughts about the passing of their friend.
