Les Mayne Can't Be A One Man Dynasty

One of the fastest rising stars in Oklahoma this year has been Les Mayne, who nicknamed himself "The Mayne Event". Debuting to the cheers of the fans in April, he slowly compiled win after win and was one of the first challengers to the newly created UWF06 Texhoma Championship held by Dane Griffin. Approximately a month ago, Mayne defeated Griffin for that title, with the help of Thomas Trump. The fans were thrilled as they thought that one less piece of gold was in the hands of The Dynasty. But Mayne shocked everyone when he turned on Trump and joined his former enemies Griffin and Jerry Bostic in that powerful faction.

What seemed like a great day for Mayne may be producing mixed results. While newcomers like J. D. Striker have been easy pickings for Mayne, he knows that Thomas Trump is still watching him. And he also has to wonder just who he can trust as the circumstances of his travels into MSWA & IZW have not been the most successful for him.

On November 10, Mayne defended the Texhoma title against Thomas Trump. That match went Mayne's way after a distraction due to an altercation between Mayne's valet Frankie Dee and Trump's valet Tasha. Mayne thought he might get a break from Trump for a while. But when he arrived for the UWF06/PMLL event in Oklahoma City the day after Thanksgiving, he discovered that neither of his Dynasty tag team partners were there. This put him in a bad situation as he was scheduled for a tag team match against Joe Herell & Thug Nasty and the only person willing to tag with him was...Thomas Trump! When Mayne & Trump arrived for their match, it was obvious that there was tension between them. Trump mostly stood on the outside watching as Mayne got pummeled by Thug & "Ky-ote" and, after losing the match, he went in and shook his opponents hands after they disposed of Mayne on the outside. Mayne was obviously unhappy, but Trump couldn't have been smiling more, as he'd gained a psychological victory over "The Mayne Event".

That loss, plus the mindgames, must have had an effect on Mayne as he was faced with a similar situation the next night in IZW. Again, Dane Griffin was not there and Mayne was faced with a need for a tag team partner which he filled with Montego Seeka. Together, they faced IZW Tag Team Champions Impact, Inc. And while it's one thing to try and hold your own against a new team like Thug & Herell were, John Zorthos & Bernie Donderwitz are one of the most experienced tag teams in the state. Mayne's night again ended without his hand raised and with more frustration setting in.

On Sunday, Mayne was back to solo action, facing Eric Rose & the debuting Jason Kirby in a Triple Threat Elimination match. Despite not having to rely on an unfamiliar tag team partner, he still came out without the winner's share of the purse as Rose took the victory in this match.

As Mayne ponders his next move, he has to know that Thomas Trump is out there watching and waiting for him. And Montego Seeka & Eric Rose are both mainstays in UWF06 and now have more experience in regards to Les' abilities and weaknesses. Can Mayne rely on his Dynasty compatriots to come to his aid against these opponents? Or might it be time for a new regime to play their trump card in the title picture?
