Montego Seeka Interview

Montego Seeka Interview

Posted: Nov 27th 2007 By: CMBurnham

The other day I had the chance to sit down with Montego Seeka and visit with him.

Big Daddy Jones - Hello Montego, is that your real name?

Montego Seeka - No, I was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica and I took on the name in honor of my country.

BDJ - Your bio says that you are 6'2" and 202 lbs. is that so?

MS - Yeah pretty much so, actually I am now a little taller and a little heavier.

BDJ - You were trained in Martial arts I see, what type did you do?

MS - Tae Kwon do, I am a black belt and competed for the championship of the Caribbean and won.

BDJ - You are a high flyer there in the ring and you won the light heavyweight title from "The Gifted" Eric Rose.

MS - I did, he was really very much a high flyer himself. He is young though, and he will be a good worker as he gets the experience.

BDJ - Speaking of experience, you have worked for a number of federations, most of them right here in Oklahoma. Which ones are they?

MS - UWF06, MSWA, IZW, SWCW, here in Oklahoma. I have others that I am working with. I will be in Minnesota soon and Texas for some up coming matches.

BDJ - Where else would you like to work?

MS - I think that I would like to work in Florida and Puerto Rico.

BDJ - What is that with the shakedown routine when the referee comes to check you?

MS - Well, when you get checked by officials, they seem to want to know if you have any weapons or drugs. At least that is the way it is back home anyway.

BDJ - I heard that you came from a big family, how many brothers and sisters do you have?

MS - I am the second of a family of nine, five brothers and three sisters. Most live here in the states, the New York area, but a couple still live back home. You see, we were very poor and we came to the U.S. to live to better ourselves.

BDJ - You were trained by Al Farat, who was your favorite wrestler?

MS - I guess that I would have to say that Jimmy Snuka would be the favorite, at least he is one that I sort of watched to get some ideas from. When we were kids growing up, we would go out and throw each other around, practicing wrestling holds on each other, my brothers and friends. It was a big thing with us and others there in Jamaica.

BDJ - Was wrestling big there on the island?

MS - Those that had television would have the matches on and we would go to see them when we could.

BDJ - Where do you see yourself in the near future? and what would you like to tell your fans?

MS - I will be 800 pounds and work for TNA. Not really, but maybe I will be at TNA though. My fans know that I am an entertainer, enjoy the show and most of all, don't try this at home. You need to go to a good trainer and learn how to work the proper ways. You don't pick it up overnight. You have to work at it and practice, practice practice.

BDJ - Good advice, I want to thank you for the chance to speak with you. It has been a pleasure.

Montego Seeka is a hard worker and he will continue to burn up the mats where ever he is. Watch for him to strut his stuff in time with TNA or some other venue. Till the next time this has been Big Daddy Jones on the beat.
