Why Jeff Jarrett Is Able To Fight In Ric Flair's Final Match Despite Post At WWE
Posted: Jul 20th 2022 By: Lou Flavius - TheSportster.com
Jeff Jarrett will be one of Ric Flair's opponents for The Nature Boy's last match.
The details surrounding Ric Flair’s upcoming final match were revealed on Monday.
Flair will headline Starrcast V during SummerSlam weekend and is set to team up with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. An angle has also been set up, with Lethal and Jarrett leaving Flair bloodied after an attack on the 73-year-old.
There’s been a bit of surprise as it concerns Jarrett’s involvement given he’s the senior vice president of live events for WWE. But Dave Meltzer has noted that he is able to compete in the match due to the fact that he is not under a talent contract with WWE.
Conrad Thompson has booked WWE talent for Starrcast in the past, The Undertaker a notable example, but they ended up being pulled by the promotion.
Jarrett, though, has the green light to be part of The Nature Boy’s last hurrah and everything has already been worked out in order for him to participate.
Jeff Jarrett Set For A Busy Weekend
The show will feature talent from multiple promotions and has quite the stacked card. Some of the top matches include The Briscoes vs. The Von Erichs and Killer Cross vs. Harry Smith.
Jarrett will have himself quite the eventful weekend as he will be appearing at SummerSlam too. He is going to be a guest referee for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and Street Profits.
Meltzer has also shed some light as to why Jarrett is one of the persons headlining the event.
“It’s a name… The deal is, it’s Nashville," the wrestling insider said. "From a national audience standpoint, whatever. But, it’s Jeff Jarrett, you know, again, the Jarrett family in Nashville goes back 55 years, you know, and Christine even further, but she was not a public face, but Jerry, you know, and then Jeff were part of that market for wrestling forever. So it’s, you know, I mean, I can see for the Nashville market and he can go do promotion."
