The Scoop

NEWS
The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) got an upgrade on SmackDown. They were announced upon their entrance as “The New Vicious Viking Raiders”. They were supposed to have a match against The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods),, but instead just turned into a quick beat down with Erik and Ivar standing tall. Commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee both called them “The New Vicious Viking Raiders” as well. Usually, WWE is known for shortening names, but this time they extended one.

Jeff Jarrett was the guest on this week’s episode of "WWE After the Bell' which can be accessed by clicking here.

A "Table for Three" featuring members of the Bone Street Krew (The Undertaker, Rikishi, The Godfather, Henry O. Godwinn, and Mideon) will air on July 1st on Peacock.

WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Jinder Mahal vs. Roman Reigns from "Money in the Bank 2016".

Vince Russo believes A. J. Styles deserves better. Styles has had a rough couple of months since "WrestleMania 38". He has lost to the Judgment Day faction repeatedly and now looks to be involved in a feud with The Miz for now. While speaking on "Legion of RAW", Russo stated that Styles is just another body in WWE now. He accused WWE of not caring enough about Styles. “They simply have that system, they are creating wrestlers. And guess what bro, ‘We’ll get somebody that’ll be half the price of an A. J. Styles.’ They’re not looking at it. Like Taker is a special case, the relationship he had with Vince. Outside of that man, what it really comes down to is every wrestler is replaceable, and guess what bro, the one waiting in line will do it for half the amount of money that we’re paying this one. There is no emotional attachment at all. There isn’t.” Time will tell what is next for Styles, but Russo believes he should be in a better position than he is in right now.

Mick Foley marked the 24th anniversary of his Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker from WWE's "King of the Ring 1998" He said “24 YEARS AGO TODAY. What were you doing on June 28, 1998? I was taking flight lessons, courtesy of @undertaker. Thanks to all of you who have shared this magic moment of time, and made it an iconic part of wrestling history.”

Sting said his match at AEW's “Forbidden Door” was the most fun he's had in the ring in years. He teamed with Darby Allin & Shingo Takagi in a 6-Man Tag Team Match and defeated El Phantasmo & The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson).

Sting is happy that Tony Khan asked him to come to All Elite Wrestling so he could play in the game a little while longer. He recently spoke with The Schmo to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about what brought him back to professional wrestling after retiring in 2016, Sting admitted it came down to a “love of game” and a phone call. A 22 year old MMA fighter fights against an experienced amateur's heavyweight champion. “You know what, just love of game and a phone call,” Sting said. “I mean, you got to have love of game, of course. But Tony Khan called me and asked me if I wanted to come back and play for a little while longer. And I said alright, let me just try this out, and here I am.” Sting was asked to give his Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling, but he refused to put himself on it. “I’m not gonna put myself in there,” Sting began. “I mean, obviously, you’d have to have Hulk Hogan in there. Obviously, you’d have to have Ric Flair in there. I think you got to have The Rock in there. Mount Rushmore, you said, right? Stone Cold.” When asked if there were any similarities between WCW and All Elite Wrestling, Sting said while sometimes it’s reminiscent of the old days, it’s also completely different and new. “I mean, of course, this is wrestling, so it’s gonna be reminiscent of those old days for sure,” Sting said. “But it is completely different and new, you know, a whole new generation of wrestlers, and you know, I could be dad to more than half the guys in here. Maybe even granddad. But I’m grateful that they have the level of respect that they have for their elders. And somebody like me, who’s tried to come back and play in the game a little while longer, and the fans. Oh, man, you just can’t beat the fans.”

On his latest vlog, Sammy Guevara documented "Forbidden Door" week. You can watch the vlog by clicking here.

In collaboration with Kitchen Data Systems, Ric Flair is launching a delivery-only virtual restaurant brand called “Wooooo! Wings.”

Cardi B tweeted about referencing Jimmy Snuka on her new song “Top Sh*t”. She said “YES I LOVE WRESTLING….I kinda wonder if this new generation was going to know who I’m talking about.”

Disney has fired Joey Ryan from their Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland. Over the past weekend, Bodyslam.net reported that Joey Ryan had been working at Disneyland on the Jungle Cruise attraction. For those unaware, Ryan has a litany of allegations against him from the Speaking Out movement a few short years ago. Ryan has attempted to sue his accusers to no avail. The LA Times broke the news on Wednesday that Ryan had been fired by Disneyland following the discovery of his allegations. Ryan worked for the company for three months before being let go. Disney stated they do background checks on all employees, but missed Ryan’s allegations due to them being made against his stage name. “Mr. Meehan is no longer employed by us,” said a Disney Spokesperson to The LA Times. The LA Times also reports that they attempted to contact Ryan and his lawyer, however to no avail. Ryan’s attorney stated that Ryan is currently in the middle of an ongoing Federal case.

Oklafan congratulates Derek James, who recently surpassed 6 months as UWO Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Brawler Morrison for the title in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match on December 31, 2021 at an event in Oklahoma City.
