Richard Pierce and London Calling Joins With Caballero Cartel To Blitz WFC
Posted: Jun 23rd 2022 By: Michael Hunt
Almost one year ago, WFC was attacked. Attacked from the inside in an unexpected coup. At the time it was considered a Hostile Takeover.
WFC didn't know how good they had it.
On August 21, 2022, Stevie Caballero led the Caballero Cartel in a power play after Justin Lee defeated Tim Rockwell in what was billed as their last match in WFC. A No DQ/No Countout match to end any issues between the two. But as soon as they were done, members of the Caballero Cartel as well as the WFC Tag Team Champions Toxic Masculinity hit the ring and began to assault both Rockwell and Lee. Caballero then demanded that the WFC broadcast team enter the ring and denounce WFC publicly. Travis Fowlhark had no problem doing so, but but C. M. Burnham refused. And thankfully Mr. Nasty, The Space Age Cowboys and others arrived before any physical harm could befall one of the voices of WFC.
And while all this went on, the newly appointed Director of Operations for WFC, Richard Pierce, looked on. And did nothing.
After taking the position of D.O.O., many people were concerned that Pierce would let his personal feelings and previous alliances interfere with his guidance of WFC. And when questioned about his actions (or the lack thereof) on August 21st, Pierce made it clear that he needed to assess the situation in order to determine how to move forward. And for quite some time, Pierce seemingly held the Caballero Cartel at bay. He put Stevie Caballero in his place on multiple occasions and did what he could to ensure that things remained called basically down the middle. Not all his decisions were popular and it was very apparent that his personal vendetta against Striker was close to an abuse of power. But Pierce remained in charge, making hard decisions and for the most part, doing what was needed in order to maintain order.
Longtime fans of WFC know that most of Pierce's time in WFC has been in association with London Calling. The team of Richie Adams and Dutch Hagen are the longest reigning WFC Tag Team Champions and dominated the tag team division for well over a year before losing the titles to The Chase. The Pandemic seemingly put London Calling on the back burner as Hagen found travel to and from Luxembourg nearly impossible, so Adams had to go it alone and spearheaded the charge to install Pierce as D.O.O. Presumably, Adams thought that this would give him an internal ally, but Pierce even reprimanded Adams on occasion, so it looked like London Calling had split. Even the return of Dutch Hagen to regular competition did not see the return to tag team action. Hagen focused on matches against Sam Stackhoue and WFC Champion Luke Langley. Adams had captured the WFC Prime Title and was determined to maintain it in his possession while forming an odd association with Toxic Masculinity. The two partners and their former manager did not look to be "getting the band back together" any time soon.
Until this past Saturday.
For months, Toxic Masculinity had been pursued by the Villains, Tim Rockwell and Thrash. These duos faced off against each other multiple times, both in singles matches and in tag team competition. On one occasion, the Johnnys teamed with Adams against The Villains and their recruit, Johnny Kove in a 6-man match. Whenever the titles were not on the line, The Villains won. But when the titles WERE on the line, the Johnnys found some way to escape with the belts intact.
Last month, Richard Pierce had negotiated a final match between the two. Tornado Rules for the WFC Tag Team Titles. It was come-as-you-are and both teams brought plenty of weaponry to add to the chaos with. Battling in and out of the ring, Toxic Masculinity and the Villains did whatever they could think of to ensure that they walked away victorious. Both teams understood the importance of what was on the line. Both teams endured tremendous physical suffering in the match.
And with all 4 men laid out in the middle of the ring, the lights went out in the Living Hope Arena.
And when they came back up, London Calling stood facing each other.
For a brief moment, Toxic Masculinity thought that Adams was still on their side. But they should have put the situation together from an event earlier in the night. Toxic Masculinity had ignored Richie Adams' call for help during his match for the WFC Title against Luke Langley and when he got to the back, he made it clear to them that he as not happy with their inaction. When Johnny Lightning and Johnny Dynamite tried to go talk to Adams later, the door to his dressing room was opened by Dutch Hagen, who essentially shooed them away. The writing was pretty clear there but sometimes people have to be hit over the head with the issues in front of them and that is exactly what happened when Toxic Masculinity turned to Adams to ask what was going on and were obliterated by Hagen and Adams.
But the surprises were not over yet. As the arrival of the Caballero Cartel simply made the situation even worse. Reed, Bobby Dylan and Wrangler Rhett joined in the fray, but what happened in the ring was nowhere near as important as what happened on the entrance ramp.
Big Stevie Caballero and Richard Pierce firmly and publicly shook hands with each other. There had been a coup. A Hostile Takeover. But it wasn't just Caballero trying to assert power. It was a conglomerate of managerial evil that now seemed to stand atop WFC.
With London Calling reunited and with Pierce still in his position as Director of Operations, things look bleak for many of the WFC roster. Most do not agree with the behaviour and tactics of Pierce or Caballero, but they lack any power or pull to do anything about it. The main person with that power is Tim Rockwell, but even as owner of the company, there is little he can do to remove Pierce from power short of shutting WFC down. And Rockwell knows that if he does that, there will be no one to fight for the children that WFC does events for. So that would be a win for Pierce and Caballero. Rockwell won't stand for that. Rockwell has fought the Cartel before. But now he has to face the Cartel AND London Calling. And that unholy alliance has a plethora of tricks to draw on to make sure this time, the takeover is permanent!
