NEWS
Mike Pappas was honored at the WWE event in his hometown of Springfield, MO on June 12th.

WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship from Money in the Bank 2017, and Sting, Lex Luger, & Randy Savage vs. The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall) from "WCW Bash at the Beach 1996". This is the match in which Hulk Hogan was revealed as Hall & Nash's partner and the New World Order was formed.

Jim Cornette feels the WWE Intercontinental Title is the ugliest title he has seen. The new design of the Intercontinental Title was introduced by WWE in 2019 on SmackDown. The title was introduced by Sami Zayn on the brand with Shinsuke Nakamura holding the new belt for the first time. Cornette discussed the Intercontinental Title Match that took place on SmackDown on the latest episode of "The Jim Cornette Experience". Before analyzing the title match between Gunther and Ricochet, Cornette blasted the title design, calling it "abysmal". "By the way, is the Intercontinental Title belt one of the ugliest championship belts you've ever seen? It's abysmal. It looks like like the AWA belt after Hansen ran over it with his tractor," said Cornette. Gunther won the match last week on SmackDown, winning his first title on the main roster. Ricochet's run as Intercontinental Champion lasted just under 100 days, having won the title back in March.

WWE officially announced its May corporate hires, including Jeff Jarrett in the role of senior vice president of live events booking.

The Cauliflower Alley Club announced that Christine "Teeny" Jarrett is their 56th Posthumous Award Winner and will be honored during their reunion in September in Las Vegas, NV. Christine is the mother of Jerry Jarrett and grandmother of Jeff Jarrett.

Sting returned to AEW this past week during "Rampage" which was originally recorded on Wednesday night following the conclusion of "Dynamite". He saved Darby Allin after he was about to get double teamed by Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. Sting’s entrance came just before O’Reilly hit the ring, with the lights going out, and Sting appearing right in front of O’Reilly next to the ring when the house lights came back up. O’Reilly tried to hit Sting with a chair but Sting hit him in the nuts with a baseball bat. Sting took the chair and gave it to Allin, who wrapped it around Fish’s ankle and then did the Coffin Drop. Sting has been out of action since the May 18th episode of "Dynamite" with an injury and was written off TV following an attack by The Undisputed Elite. Sting had to miss the meet & greet sessions at "Double or Nothing" as he was not cleared to travel and was not part of the pay-per-view at all.

Ric Flair has made headlines a lot recently for his upcoming return match. Now, he’s back in the headlines again after sitting down with "The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast". Ric talked about numerous topics, including WWE talent reads scripts and how he believes WWE is holding back his daughter. He said "You can tell a mile away whether the kids feel it or not. It’s a lot of pressure to read something that you don’t naturally feel in your heart. That’s a big difference. I mean, you could tell the guys that they really take off because they’re taking what they’ve been handed to memorize and then they put some emotion into it, But that’s just talking generically today. That doesn’t sell tickets. When The Rock comes back and wrestles Roman, that’ll sell tickets. When Steve Austin came back, that sold tickets. It’s just a different timeframe. The talent is great, make no mistake, there’s some great wrestlers, Orton, my daughter, Sasha Banks, Styles, like there’s a list of great, probably 10 between the two companies. But the events sell themselves now as much as the wrestlers do. I don’t think they turn them loose enough. I know that they want to make sure they get the right advertisers. Everybody has to be happy. It’s a whole different world, but I still love it. I just feel like the guys that are really great like Randy (Orton) and my daughter are held back because they (WWE) don’t want them to go that far. They don’t want anybody to become The Rock again that’s going to walk off. They don’t want somebody like Steve (Austin) that could say, ‘I don’t want to do it.’ Back in the day, Hulk could say yes or no. He had that kind of power. I don’t know if that’s healthy, but Vince won’t let that happen again." Charlotte has not been seen in WWE since she lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey at "WrestleMania Backlash".

Robert Ego Anthony, the maker of Ric Flair's last robe which will be used by the Nature Boy next month has documented the making of in a vlog uploaded on YouTube. Filmed backstage at NWA's "Alwayz Ready" pay-per-view this past weekend, Anthony went through the process of making the robe and showed how parts of the robe get stitched together for the final piece. The robe will be white, with Nature Boy in blue on the back and purple butterflies all over. It is similar to a previous robe that Flair used in the early days of WCW. The event, entitled "Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair's Last Match", will take place on Monday, July 31st in Nashville, TN. The show will be produced by Thuzio, a Triller Company, and will be streaming worldwide exclusively on FITE.TV. The show will be part of "Starrcast V" which is happening during SummerSlam weekend. You can see the making of the robe by clicking here.

Mike Tyson, who earlier this week was announced for "The Roast of Ric Flair", has pulled out of the event just days after Starrcast announced his participation. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mike will not be participating in the roast," a spokesman for Tyson said. Tyson and Flair are business partners with Tyson’s company Tyson 2.0 to start producing and marketing cannabis products featuring the likeness of the Nature Boy in the United States. The roast, as part of "Starrcast V" and taking place from the Nashville Fairgrounds, will happen on Friday, July 29th, on the eve of WWE's "SummerSlam" pay-per-view event. Dallas Page and Eric Bischoff will also be part of the roast. Tickets are available at Starrcast.com, and will also air on FITE.TV.

Brad Armstrong passed away in November of 2012. He is remembered by many for his athletic prowess and ability in the ring for the time period. Armstrong worked for several companies, including WWE from 2006-2012. On what would have been Armstrong’s 60th birthday, Dr. Tom Prichard made a touching post on Facebook in memory of his friend. He said "Today Brad Armstrong would have celebrated his 60th birthday. The kids getting (or trying to get) in the business today should be watching and paying attention to every move he makes. Timing, selling, pacing, feeling, authenticity. Smooth. A pros pro. Ric Flair requested to work with Brad any time he came for a week or 2 week run in any territory Brad was in. Because Flair knew it was going to be a great match and he could have fun, working with a baby face who got it and understood how to tell a story. It was a pleasure. A night off. Knowing the satisfaction of going to the ring and the fans were going to get their money's worth and spent emotions. It was a roller coaster between the world champ and a credible challenger telling a believable story that you couldn’t help but get excited about. It was a sellout at the curtain because the boys back then were interested, invested and enjoyed watching a great match. And Brad always delivered a great match. He could carry the greenest of the green. He put himself in the spots he needed to be in and if you followed, you were golden. One of the greatest player/coaches ever. Patience and the ability to communicate were his strong traits with rookies. Talent and being one of the best in the business made him a favorite opponent for anybody he stepped in the ring with. It was a different business, place and time but it’s still basic, fundamental story telling. At least it should be. There will always be new and exciting moves introduced. But with no passion, feeling or knowing how to connect the dots, it’s just cool moves. Sometimes it’s not as cool as you see it in your head. Brad knew how to fit an idea in the match and make it work. Body language. Feeling. Passion. Respect. Authentic. There will NEVER be another Brad Armstrong. He was the greatest in and out of the ring. He was and still is my best friend. He left us way too soon. I love you Brad. RIP".

Zac Efron is ready to step into the ring to tell the story of the Von Erich family. According to Deadline, Efron will star in "The Iron Claw", a new film based on the lives of the Von Erich family by writer and director Sean Durkin. A24 will finance the film and produce it along with Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman. According to the synopsis, "The Iron Claw" will detail “the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.” Efron’s role was not confirmed at the time of publication. Fritz Von Erich, the patriarch of the famed wrestling family, passed away from cancer in 1997, and his firstborn son, Jack, Jr., died at age 6 due to accidental drowning. David Von Erich died in Tokyo in 1984 due to enteritis (inflammation of the small intestine), while three of Fritz’s other sons, Mike (in 1987), Chris (in 1991), and Kerry (in 1993), committed suicide. Kevin Von Erich is the last surviving son of Fritz, and Kevin's sons, Marshall and Ross, currently wrestle for Major League Wrestling. Kerry’s daughter, Lacey, also joined the wrestling business and had a run with TNA/Impact Wrestling. "The Iron Claw" is one of many pro-wrestling-related projects in the works.

The International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in Albany NY had a ceremony last week to induct Terry Funk. Funk couldn't travel but Mick Foley was part of the ceremony.

For many years, Virgil worked with “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase on WWF programming and was one of the great partnerships of their era. As previously noted, DiBiase and his family are being sued for millions in a financial mismanagement lawsuit. However, that’s not stopped Virgil from bringing up an old article about “Ted DiBiase curiously received $2.1 million in welfare for religious nonprofit” and wrote the following on Instagram: “I’m sitting here hurting hustling my a$$ off and this guy doesn’t even bother f**king calling me asking me how I am. I try to do my best and get laughed at all these years later yet I am the one who has to do my best to make a buck to help with my problems. What a life.” Virgil has been dealing with health issues such as one arm not working due to 2 massive strokes, being in the early stages of dementia, and colon cancer.
