Dean Captures CPW Title, Takes Seat At The High Table

Posted: Jun 8th 2022 By: CMBurnham

The dark side of Tommy Dean has been on display in Oklahoma more and more now. While tiny peeks into that side of his personality have been seen now and then, especially at the last OKX event, it seems that Dean has allowed that aspect to take complete control since the beginning of 2022.

Recently months have seen Dean also form strong alliances with people such as Duke Cornell and UWE Champion Wesley Crane, who formed The Haven. Dean, who has a long history with Crane, obviously learned much from his time with Crane and this past weekend he revealed the final application of his accrued knowledge after capturing the CPW Title from Mr. Nasty.

Tommy is a former CPW Champion and the entire situation between him and ASP 5-Star, ASP Mid-American and WCR Tag Team Mr. Nasty started as a simple professional rivalry in March. Some words were exchanged. Some heated looks were shot back and forth, but everything remained at a level where fans could expect a competitive match, but nothing more. But they got more after that match was over as Dean attacked Nasty, turning his back on the fans and abandoning the affection and support that had carried him through his entire career.

April saw Nasty wanting to get his hands on Tommy in revenge and Tommy accepted, but conditionally, saying that first he had to get through Samuel Savage. That match was hard hitting as well, but again, Nasty was triumphant and set his eyes on Dean. But it wouldn't be another regular championship match. The level of hate between the two had boiled for beyond that, so Dean and Nasty agreed to finish the war between them in a Street Fight!

With weaponry strewn around the ring, Dean and Nasty opened the "Summer Send-Off" event for CPW June 4th. As might be expected, both men utilized anything and everything available to them. Crutches, license plates, even a table....all came into play as these two men tried to maim each other to capture the CPW Title. Sensing victory, Tommy went to the top rope to hit a frog splash on Nasty, but Nasty kicked out. Tommy then rolled out of the ring and came to the announce table, grabbing ring announcer Anna Lynn's purse and rifling through it until he found a taser. Nasty was able to wrestle the taser away from Tommy, but was hit with a low blow before being able to use it. Tommy, believing that Nasty was incapacitated, mounted the second rope and gloated to the audience. He clearly felt he had eliminated any threat from "The Creole Soul" and he was terribly mistaken. Nasty recovered, taser still in his possession and tased Dean directly in the testicles! Nasty then shoved Dean through the announce table where Samuel Savage (Who had come to ringside with Dean) was, wiping both of them out and causing Dean to suffer a laceration above his eye. Nasty exerted a lot of effort in that and took longer than he wanted to to recover, but he made his way out and grabbed Dean, rolling him into the ring and pinning him. But it was only a two-count. Sensing the end was near, Nasty prepared to polish Dean off for good only to be surprised by the appearance of Urn Stokes. The distraction by Stokes allowed Dean to recover, hit a straightjacket piledriver on Nasty and become the first 2-time CPW Champion.

After the match, Dean explained that even he was not expecting to see Stokes and that Dean had not chosen him, but that he had chosen Dean. Dean then officially announced the formation of The High Table, bringing himself, Samuel Savage, and Urn Stokes all into alignment. Now having recaptured the title, Dean sits atop of the throne of CPW, but this time, he won't be a man alone. And while the table has been formed, it seems likely, given the connections that Dean has, that other seats may open up for future associates to come and support his reign!
