Ric Flair, WWE to partner on two-hour documentary
Posted: Jun 2nd 2022 By: Josh Nason
Ric Flair isn't done with WWE just yet after all.
Less than a year after he requested and obtained his release, WWE announced Wednesday via Twitter that they are partnering with Flair and Fox Sports' Tom Rinaldi on an "unprecedented two-hour documentary featuring never-before-revealed history" on the 16-time World Champion.
No other details were revealed.
Rinaldi is also an executive producer on the WWE/Vince McMahon dramatic scripted series "Pinned" which is currently in development at NBCUniversal.
Flair's main issue leading to his August 2021 release appeared to center around his creative usage and shared vision for the future. He also said in a November 2021 podcast that he had signed a three-year deal for appearances that paid him more than WWE was paying him.
In that same podcast, he took umbrage with his trademark "Whooo!" being removed from WWE's opening montage after the controversial Dark Side of the Ring "Plane Ride from Hell" episode in which he was accused of sexual misconduct.
At that time, he said he could never work for WWE president Nick Khan again, blaming him for the aforementioned removal. He said he could work with Vince McMahon again and that he still communicated with him.
Flair has had documentaries produced on him in the past, including one as part of the ESPN 30-for-30 series.
Flair is set to have his final match on Sunday, July 31st, as part of a FITE.tv pay-per-view, but who is involved has yet to be announced.
