Stackhouse's Return To WFC Not As Easy As He Expected

Stackhouse's Return To WFC Not As Easy As He Expected

Posted: Jun 1st 2022 By: CMBurnham

Sam Stackhouse has been a busy man. Since coming under the national spotlight, Stackhouse has spent lots of time away from Oklahoma, primarily in Texas. And some of the places where he once called home have not had the chance to see him in many months.

Such was the case with WFC. The last time Sam made an appearance there was last September during the 2021 Ryder Herring Memorial Cup Tournament. Stackhouse was the very first Ryder Cup winner and holds that tournament close to his heart. So he made sure to clear his calendar for 2022 in June when it happened again. And just to get a feel for the talent in WFC at that point, Stackhouse contacted WFC Director of Operations Richard Pierce and arranged to a match this past Saturday.

That match was in the VIP session and he faced off against Dutch Hagen. It was a match that many WFC fans were looking forward to and it did not disappoint. Both men knew each other from their previous WFC runs as well as back in ComPro. But both had changed, improved, evolved. Hagen, who often expects to be able to outpower his opponents in matches, found that he could not pick Stackhouse up, nor take him off his feet as easily as he had hoped. In fact, Stackhouse found it amusing as all of Hagen's tactics seemed to fail. Which led to Hagen resorting to trickery. With the referee's back turned, Hagen caught Stackhouse's foot as he attempted to kick Hagen in the mid-section. He then positioned himself to make it look like Stackhouse had kicked him in the groin. When the referee turned around, he saw what to him seemed like a clear infraction of the rules and awarded the match to Hagen on a DQ.

Amazingly, that wouldn't be the last time that Hagen screwed Stackhouse over. With this month being "Fandetta" the fans made choices via online voting (Except in one instance) and the first match the fans voted on who WFC Prime Champion The Blue Bolt should defend his title against. The vote showed Sam Stackhouse, who was caught somewhat off guard by that decision as he was at his merchandise table when that occurred. But right after Sam entered the ring, Richard Pierce came up and said that he had been monitoring the voting very closely and was aware of some "voting irregularities". He declared that Sam had not won the fan vote, but that Dutch Hagen had won it. The fans were clearly upset by this decision, though they gained some solace when Bolt was able to retain his title after Hagen got disqualified thanks to the actions of WFC Tag Team Champions Toxic Masculinity. And fans still got to see Sam compete later on when he was one of the two surprise partners, along with Justin Lee, chosen by The Villains to face Toxic Masculinity & The Caballero Cartel in a big 8-man tag team match.

But believe it or not, that still wasn't the end for Sam. Fans voted the stipulation of a Lumberjack Match between Dan Webber and UWE Champion Wesley Crane and Sam served as one of the Lumberjacks in that. That was when things got interesting as Crane made deliberate decisions to try and bait and provoke Stackhouse during that match. Going so far as to spit in Sam's face, Crane showed a total lack of respect for "The King of Thicc Style". But Sam would get his payback (at least to a mild degree) during the main event as WFC Champion Luke Langley took on Tommy Dean. With Dean being a member of Haven, Crane took it upon himself to come out to the ring area towards the end of the match, trying to cause a distraction. But Stackhouse was having none of that, coming out to remove Crane from the area and allow Langley to successfully retain his belt.

WFC announcer Ryan Lee attempted to get a word with Crane in a video posted on the WFC Fan Facebook page. In that video, Crane said that he wanted Sam to understand that WFC was not GCW or Loko Wrestling or any of the other companies that he had recently been associated with. Crane said that he formed Haven as a safe space for wrestlers to be in that had been overlooked or mistreated by WFC. But before he could provide much more of an explanation, an irate Sam came storming in to the area and Crane beat a hasty retreat out of the building, hoping to get a far distance from Sam.

While the reasoning for Crane's actions still remain unclear, it is very obvious that these two are on a collision course. And that course may end at the 2022 Ryder Cup on June 17th. But Sam made it very clear that if he and Crane cross paths any time before that, he will do whatever he needs to to get his hands on "The Self-Proclaimed Satan". Stackhouse, long known for being an easy-going guy, will not take the treatment he received from Crane sitting down. And revenge is more than enough of a reason for him to bring the fight back to WFC.
