NEWS
AEW's "Double or Nothing" emanates from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV tonight. It is available on pay-per-view and at select movie theaters. In Oklahoma, it is available at the Cinemark in Oklahoma City, the Southroads 20 and Cinemark in Tulsa, and the Warren Theater in Broken Arrow. Tickets to watch it at the theaters are $25 at the two Cinemarks and the Southroads 20 and $27.11 at the Warren. To search other areas, go to JoeHandPromotions.com.

It appears three of AEW’s most talented prospects almost ended up in NXT. NXT has had a complete rebrand over the last year with everything changing. The presentation, the logo, and the booking have changed massively as "NXT 2.0" has become much more focused on developing new talent. William Regal was released when this rebrand began. Talksport’s Alex McCarthy recently took to Twitter and reported that William Regal planned to sign Ricky Starks, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia to NXT. This was before WWE decided to change directions with NXT. “William Regal told me he was planning to sign Daniel Garcia, Ricky Starks, and Wheeler Yuta to NXT before WWE “changed directive". While Yuta, Garcia, and Starks would have been excellent signing’s for Triple H’s NXT, WWE decided they did not suit NXT 2.0’s changes.

Jake Roberts may be signed to AEW, but his opinions in the sport remain valid. Roberts has been working with AEW for quite a while now, mainly managing Lance Archer and being as dastardly as ever. He is also a former WWE Superstar and the originator of the DDT. While Roberts has had his share of issues with substances, he has spoke of the CM Punk fondly. While speaking on the "DDP Snake Pit", Dallass Page and Roberts talked about Punk's run in AEW so far. Roberts stated that he believes Punk feels safer in AEW than in WWE. "My promos … I wanted a little bit of everybody,” Page said, recalling his own career. “From Jake to Dusty to Savage, everybody, a little piece sprinkled in so that you don’t really notice it … I look at MJF, he came in like this and he was just going to stay committed the whole way through. And the stuff he did with Punk — and I think Punk is better today than when he was the man up in [WWE].” “I think he also might feel safety,” Roberts added. “In that other company, you’ve got to be guns out and watching every which way to save your ass. Now he’s in a place that he feels pretty comfortable.”

John Hennigan (aka John Morrison) made his All Elite Wrestling debut as Samoa Joe’s surprise opponent in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament on May 18th. Asked about Hennigan’s status on Thursday’s "AEW Double Or Nothing" media call, Tony Khan said that he brought Hennigan in with the intention of seeing him more, and hopes they can work something out and bring him back to AEW programming. “Well, John is tremendous. I really like Johnny Elite and it was great to have him debut in the Owen Hart Tournament as the Joker. He was a very important person in the tournament, he came in and provided a big surprise and also gave a great match to Samoa Joe. Now with Samoa Joe going into the finals, earning his place last night,” Khan pointed out, “that match looks even more important in hindsight. “I think he had a great debut and I definitely brought him in with the thought that this is somebody I would be open to bringing back and interested to bring back in the future. After the great debut match he had, I’m still very interested, probably even more interested in John coming back. So absolutely, I’d be very open to that,” Khan stated. “I think John is great and we’d love to see Johnny Elite again in AEW.”

Fans have been very quick to turn on Sammy Guevara. Since his push in AEW began with the TNT Title, fans have been not impressed by Guevara’s new attitude and it didn’t help with who he was paired with. In a viral video, Sammy can be heard clapping back at people hating on his relationship with Tay Conti. For those not in the know, the two went public with their relationship on New Year’s Day. The former TNT Champion had this to say to the haters and trolls. “I won all the belts. I had the TNT title and people are gonna go and disrespect me, saying that I was one of the worst TNT champions, saying that I destroyed the belt. But what did I do every single week? I tried to have five star matches every single week, destroying my body. People are going to disrespect. Why because of my relationship? F**k everybody!”

Tay Conti is taking legal precautions against a fan for repeatedly threatening her and Sammy Guevara on social media: “This is absurd. His name is DUSTIN DOLEZAL and he’s been threatening Sammy and I since January. He writes us EVERY SINGLE DAY and apparently planning to do something with us in June. I’m taking legally precautions but if something happens to us y’all know who to look for.”

Sammy Guevara's weekly vlog is available by clicking here.

WWE NXT Champion Bron Breakker says he regrets his tribal-style tattoo, which was inspired by Bill Goldberg. Breakker appeared on the “Out of Character” podcast with Ryan Satin this week and revealed that Goldberg inspired him to get similar ink on his arm when he was 18. Breakker knows now that it was a mistake. “I liked Goldberg growing up, he’s one of my favorite wrestlers of all time,” Breakker said. “But I wish I didn’t have the tattoo, to be honest with you. The similarity, I was 18 at the time when I got it, it was obviously a mistake but it is what it is. He was one of my favorites growing up, had a few favorites. Triple H was probably my all-time favorite, obviously my dad and uncle too.” Randy Orton previously spoke with Satin and also talked about his tribal-style ink, and revealed that his tattoo artist offered to make his tattoo similar to Goldberg’s, but not exact. Breakker noted that he plans on adding more to his left arm, similar to what Orton has done. “Mine’s not the exact same either but they don’t like it,” Breaker said. “Probably [will get more to cover it up]. That’s not a priority right now, I’m not worried about it but I’ll get around to it whenever I do. Not super concerned with it but I’m sure I’ll get something to go with it, we’ll see.” Breakker will defend his title against Joe Gacy on June 4th at "NXT In Your House", in a match where Gacy will become champion if Breakker is disqualified.

WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Mickie James vs. Alicia Fox for the Divas Championship from "Hell in a Cell 2009".

The next guest on the "Stone Cold Steve Austin Broken Skull Sessions" series is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett, who no longer works for WWE in an official capacity, had a memorable career with stints in WWE, WCW, creating TNA Wrestling, Global Force Wrestling, and many other highlights worthy of a discussion. The episode with Double J will premiere on June 3rd on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network everywhere else. Austin's previous guest was the returning Cody Rhodes who sat down for a two-hour interview with the Rattlesnake just after WrestleMania.

Jeff Jarrett is on his way back to WWE in a role you probably wouldn’t expect. Following his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, Jarrett was brought back to the company in January of 2019 as a backstage producer and a role on the creative team months later. A role that reportedly lasted until January of 2021, when he quietly departed the company. But now, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Jeff Jarrett is on his way back to WWE next week and will be working on “the live events side of WWE’s business in a high level executive position.” One source told Johnson that Jarrett is “taking over live events.” For those worried that this might affect his podcast, "My World with Jeff Jarrett", it’s worth noting that Bruce Prichard still does his podcast with Conrad Thompson and also works in a significant executive role with the company.

Tickets to Ric Flair’s “last match” have officially sold out after going on sale Saturday.

Ric Flair is promising that he will come off the top rope when he wrestles his final match during "Starrcast V" weekend. As we’ve noted, Flair is scheduled to return to the ring for one night only at Starrcast later this summer. The match is planned for a special one night only “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match” event on Sunday, July 31st at Starrcast V in Nashville, TN, live from the Nashville Fairgrounds. Flair is expected to team with AAA & ROH World Tag Team Champions F. T. R. (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) against The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) and a mystery partner. It was rumored that Ricky Steamboat would be the mystery partner, but he recently nixed that talk. It’s also been rumored that Hulk Hogan will be the opponent. It was believed that Flair’s mystery opponent for the six-man match would be announced on Monday of this week, but that didn’t happen. Flair spoke with Paul Ruzzo of The Tampa Bay Times this week and commented on this last match. “[Wrestling] in my blood,” Flair said. “It’s my life. So, I thought, why not one more go-around?” The 73 year old Flair has spent some time in Tampa as of late, and says he is working harder than he is partying, and credits Tampa training opportunities for getting him back into shape. Flair says he’s currently at 223 pounds. “I feel better about myself now than I did 12 years ago,” Flair said. “I now weigh 223. The last time I wrestled, I weighed 240.” Flair is now spending up to two hours per day at the Hard Knox South private gym in Tampa, where John Cena’s personal trainer pushes him harder than anyone has in years. For up to another two hours per day, Flair works on his in-ring skills with Jay Lethal at Tampa Bay Pro Wrestling’s Lethal Academy. “That was just an experiment to make sure my pacemaker didn’t come unplugged from landing on the mat,” Flair joked, sort of. Despite the 2017 health scare that Flair had, he says doctors have medically cleared him to return to the ring and now it’s all about “just picking up the pace where I’m moving faster and just reacting” during a match. The Nature Boy also said he’s not returning to the ring out of boredom or because he needs money. Flair did admit that his family said he was crazy when he told them about the idea of having one more match. “But they’ve always known I was crazy,” he said, adding that they do support his decision. Flair also admitted that his athleticism is diminished but he can still pull off his most famous moves – the signature chops to the chest, the Figure Four, and strutting the ring as he yells “Wooo!” to the crowd. Flair was asked about his signature spot where he gets flipped upside down over the ropes, runs the apron, climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps off, only to be caught with a punch to the gut. He said he’s still working on that move, but guaranteed he will be coming off the top rope. “That’s what I’m working on,” Flair said. “It’s just a timing issue. I’ll guarantee I’ll be coming off the top rope. Whether it’s the flip or not, I don’t know.” Flair had his retirement match back at WWE's "WrestleMania 24" in 2008, losing to Shawn Michaels. He worked an Unsanctioned Match against Randy Orton the following year on RAW, and then worked four matches with Hogan on the Hulkamania tour of Australia in November 2009. Flair also worked 11 matches for TNA/Impact Wrestling in 2010 and 2011, with his last match coming as a loss to Sting on the September 15, 2011 edition of Impact. Flair suffered a torn left triceps in that bout, which was heavily criticized and needed to be edited. Flair says the last match with Sting robbed him of a formal retirement match due to the injury and the shape he was in. Flair says he wasn’t in proper shape with TNA, and this final match in July will “be better than I was the last time I wrestled with TNA. That’s all that really matters. I just want one more go around to look back on and say I did something special. I’m pretty confident it will be something special.” The “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match” event is scheduled to begin at 6:05pm Eastern on July 31st, with the start time being a throwback nod to pro wrestling on Saturday nights. The event is being produced by Thuzio, a Triller company, and will stream worldwide via FITE. Tickets will go on sale Friday, May 27th at 12pm Eastern, which is also when FITE pre-ordering will go live. It was previously noted on the RicFlairsLastMatch.com website that Flair’s opponent and the full card will be announced soon. "Starrcast V" will be a big weekend for Flair as there will be a Four Horsemen reunion and The Roast of Ric Flair.

For what it's worth, Brian Blair may have slipped up during a "Wrestling Shoot" interview where he said Hulk Hogan would be in the 6-Man Tag Team Match against Ric Flair on July 31st. But he then said he read it on the Internet and was going to check with Hogan if it was true.

The wrestling podcast world continues to expand as Mick Foley announced that he will be launching his own podcast titled "Foley Is Pod" with the Podcast Heat Network. The first episode will air on June 3rd and Foley will be joined by Conrad Thompson. "I know the way I feel when I hear a good podcast, how it can turn a whole day around and put a smile on my face," Mick told Sports Illustrated in an interview. "I’m looking forward to telling stories and reminding people of a time they really enjoyed when they were big wrestling fans." A live recording of the podcast will also take place at "Starrcast V" in Nashville, TN.

It was announed that 100% of the ticket sales and merchandise for Mick Foley’s comedy show on June 5th in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada will be donated to the Buffalo 5/14 Survivors Fund.

Actor Jon Hamm spoke about his love for 80’s WWF: “I was a big Andre the Giant fan,” he said. “He made everything he did so interesting. And Hogan slamming Andre, that’s a moment you never forget. I’ll always be in awe of that ’80s era.”
