Terry Funk and Ron Simmons have both changed the business of wrestling in their own ways . Funk was able to usher in hardcore scenes from Japan into the backyards of many in the United States. Simmons was also a key piece of the movement to forward African Americans in wrestling. They both have undoubtedly left their mark.
Well, now they are both getting their flowers and receiving the recognition they deserve for their contributions to the business. Pro Wrestling Illustrated has announced that Simmons and Funk are the 2021 recipients of PWI’s Stanley Weston Award for Lifetime Achievement in pro wrestling.
Per PWI:
"We’re delighted to announce the 2021 recipients of PWI’s Stanley Weston Award for Lifetime Achievement in pro wrestling. This year, our most prestigious award goes to Terry Funk and Ron Simmons. Today, we honor these two legends for their myriad contributions to the sport."
Both vets are certainly deserving of these awards, as the waves they have made throughout their careers will be felt for generations to come.
We here at Bodyslam.net would like to send out a big Congratulations to both Terry Funk and Ron Simmons.
