Trevor Murdoch wins World Heavyweight title at NWA 73
Posted: Aug 30th 2021 By: Bryan Rose
Trevor Murdoch is the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Murdoch defeated Nick Aldis to win the championship for the first time, pinning him following a piledriver and a bulldog off the top rope.
After the match, Ric Flair came to the ring and congratulated Murdoch, saying he put on a clinic. Murdoch's family also came into the ring and celebrated with him. Flair raised Murdoch's hand and walked out as Murdoch cut a promo saying the fans were the reason he kept going. He said he does not know what the future holds for him but will represent this company to the fullest. He hopes that one day he is as good as Harley Race was.
Aldis had held the title for over 1,000 days, winning the title from Cody Rhodes at the 70th Anniversary show that was held on October 21, 2018.
Murdoch and Adlis previously faced one another at When Our Shadows Fall back in March. Aldis retained the title by disqualification. The rematch was set up for NWA 73, with Aldis putting up his title against Murdoch’s career.
