Could We Get Sting Vs. Paul Wight In AEW

Posted: Aug 24th 2021 By: Oscar Rodriguez - Bodyslam.net

Sting and Paul Wight are two former WWE stars and are both WWE Hall Of Famers who within the past year joined the AEW roster. Wight who many titled a WWE”lifer” was by far the most shocking signing of the two, but both were received by AEW fans as well as backstage talent.

Since their arrival in the company Sting has been teamed up with Darby Allen and has competed in a number of tag-team matches and a few singles matches. Wight has been a mainstay on the commentary team on AEW Dark but recently stated that he is ready to get back into the ring in a wrestling compacity. He also made that clear on a past episode of dynamite when he got physical with Aaron Solow after Qt’s Marshalls Stable threatened the Shavonie family.

While speaking with Espn SportsNation, Wight revealed that he would love a match against Sting. Wight said,

“[Sting’s] still got it. Sting number one is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in professional wrestling. Just to know his athleticism and for me, when I started my career in 95’ for WCW, he was the franchise for World Championship Wrestling and had multiple championships then and was a huge fan favorite. And then how he’s adapted his career and still at 62 years old and competes like he does, just shows his commitment to taking care of himself and living the good life.

“I love to see Sting out there, he’s a great person, a great influence for the talent in the locker room and I look forward, hopefully someday, to working with him again. That would be ideal to get a chance to work with him again.”

It is definitely a match that fans would surely be behind, given that both talents are in the tail end of their careers and are definitely due for a match-up.
