Gallows & Revan Declare DNR Season On Each Other At TV Tapings.

Posted: Aug 3rd 2021 By: Michael Hunt

In wrestling, the saying goes that you can either make friends or make money. And recent events seem to have shown that Drake Gallows is not able to mix friendship with wrestling. Gallows formed one of the most successful tag teams in recent Oklahoma history with his best friend Sam Stackhouse and yet that friendship imploded and fans at OKX saw the result. Currently, Gallows, who is the EPW All-American Champion and the AIWF National Champion (and technically, as of this writing, the RDW Champion, though that company appears to be defunct) hold the ASP Tag Team Title with Revan, another person who can claim that Gallows is his best friend. But events at the most recent UWO TV Taping suggest that perhaps that friendship (and title reign?) is on thin ice.

July 23rd saw UWO commissioner bring Drake Gallows out. Gallows seemed in a jovial mood, running back and forth of the camera and putting over UWO. While Gallows conversed with Tuck, Revan came out. Revan told Drake that the last 3 months had been very exciting, but that something even more exciting had recently happened for him: he had discovered YouTube. And he has seen all the things that Drake has done behind his back. He has seen the matches they had lost because of Drake. He has seen the bunny ears Drake put up behind his head. He has seen the footage where referee Brent Wall knocked him out (which, he admits, he probably deserved). All of this seemed to inspire some sort of anger in Revan, who went on to challenge Drake to a 1-on-1 match. Drake had stared at this, first in concern and then in confusion before trying to retort the things that Revan had said, but when Revan stormed to the ring, Brent Wall came out and offered to officiate the match, swearing that he would not hit Revan.

The tag team champions started things out very cleanly, engaging in an even showing of scientific wrestling. A collar-and-elbow tie-up led to hammerlocks, which ed to go-behinds. Neither man had a clear advantage. But after that, events began to devolve. But not the way that fans might expect. Instead, it became almost reminiscent of a Looney Tunes cartoon as Revan declared that his finisher could knock Gallows out and Gallows retorted that HIS finisher could knock Revan out. And Gallows then listed several people that HAD been knocked out by his finisher. Al this was fine and good, but Revan then made a huge mistake by saying he would let Gallows hit his finisher and then would get up and his this finisher on Gallows and whoever got up first would win. Gallows did not argue with this logic and asked Revan which finisher he wanted: piledriver or powerbomb. Revan chose the powerbomb and Gallows set him for it. He even gave Revan one last chance to back out of this agreement, but Revan insisted, so Gallows hit the powerbomb.

To no one’s surprise, Revan was not able to get up. So Gallows pinned him (because this WAS an official match) and got the 3-count. And Revan was still unconscious. So Gallows had to literally drag Revan’s prone body out of the ring and to the back.

The champions appeared to be back on the same page two days later when they defended the ASP Tag Team Titles against Gemini [2nd] & PHoX. In fact, it was the challengers who were clearly NOT on the same page as the two masked men argued with each other for most of the match and DNR were able to gain a dominant victory. Gemini even went so far as to hit Sliced Bread #2 on PHoX after the match. So, for the time being, it looks like DNR are able to get along and work together. Perhaps this one match was an aberration. Or perhaps it’s a tiny crack that will widen with time. As long as they remain champions, it’s important that both men remain as a cohesive unit. Because Gallows can’t afford to lose another friend to the wrestling business.
