A Ruthless Debut

APRIL 24, 2021 - Since the introduction of the Lions Pride Sports Championship in March 2018, never had a wrestler won the title in their debut in The Pride.

Until RYAN DAVIDSON, that is.

At Return of the Giant 2 at a sold out Lions Den, “The Bear from Bellaire” and Reality of Wrestling’s first grand slam champion added to his drip by using some of it in a Pride classic against now-former champion BARRETT BROWN. In what was remarkably their very first match against each other, the two delivered what was expected: a hard-hitting, intense encounter with amazing near falls.

In the end, with the referee recovering from a collision, Davidson took the Hurricane Pro Wrestling Championship belt and struck the New Japan Pro Wrestling star in the head. The official returned in time to count the 1-2-3 on a bloodied “King of Texas,” shocking the crowd.

The Ruthless one adds the biggest prize in The Pride to his extensive current holdings. He’s WildKat Pro Wrestling’s top champion, and will also carry our belt into Hurricane Pro’s May 1 event in Beaumont when he defends that promotion’s title.

The question now: who will Davidson make his first defense of our title against? We know it will come at Into the Fire 2 on May 22 at The Den. Tickets are available now, so get them before they’re sold out and see one of Texas’s greatest wrestlers of this century back in action.

All Elite Wrestling’s LANCE ARCHER returned to Lions Pride Sports to cap a chaotic night. In what was initially set to be a battle of giants, “The Murderhawk Monster’s” match against DRAKE DURDEN began with the men putting each other’s strength and power to their full test. However, an angered Trifecta decided to interject in the former Lions Pride Sports Champions’ encounter, forcing a no contest.

Aligned in their desire for retribution, Archer and Durden would challenge MIKE DELL, CADE CARSON and CHAVY CHULO to a 3-on-2 match. Dell said his trio would only agree if the match had no disqualifications, and the giants were happy to oblige.

The five competitors used chairs and kendo sticks along with their bodies to brutalize each other in a helter-skelter battle. The conclusion came when Archer hit Carson with a Blackout onto chairs in the ring, giving the seven-footers the victory.

In other action at Return of the Giant 2:

JAY ALEXANDER injured MATHAYUS’S shoulder in a ringside attack prior to their scheduled two-out-of-three falls rubber match. “The Purveyor of Punishment” went on to assault Pride staff as they tended to “The Headline.” THE MOUNTAIN had seen enough, and challenged Alexander to a match. Just as the 600-pounder was about to deliver a splash to Alexander, The Trifecta made their first appearance of the night to beat down The Mountain, one of their frequent targets. Dell declared his frustration with his team not being booked for a match on the card and said they had made their point. Little did we know at that time they weren’t done yet.

MIA FRIDAY returned to her winning ways. After losing for the first time in her rookie year last month against fellow teen ROK-C, Friday eeked out a win over the veteran ALEJANDRA THE LION.

The drama between four of The Lions Den’s top products continued in tag team action, with KOOL DADDI DENZELL hitting a Kool Kutter on ZANE VALERO to give him and SHIMBASHI a win over Gen-Z and “OUTLAW” J. AUSTIN. There was plenty of dissension between the losing competitors following their defeat.
