NEWS
The trailer for the new "WWE Icons" documentary on WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix has been released. As noted, the doc will premiere on the WWE Network today. WWE has also revealed that the “Icons: Revisited” post-show for Beth’s episode will air tonight on the WWE Network. That “Revisited” episode on Beth will feature Matt Camp and Ryan Pappolla interviewing people close to Beth, such as Mickie James, Molly Holly, Al Snow, and Rhea Ripley, among others.
Chelsea Green and Mickie James have fans speculating on a potential new storyline. Green and James have been going back & forth on Twitter this week after Green started obsessing over the James. Green has been posting various messages about James being her best friend, and also sharing photoshopped graphics or memes of the two. Some fans have compared the obsession to the modern day social media version of Mickie obsessing over Trish Stratus several years ago. This is interesting because it was reported back in December, via Fightful Select, that WWE had plans for Green to receive a big push. There were plans in place for a storyline that would see Green almost emulate the 2005-2006 “obsessed fan” storyline with Mickie and Trish. Several people on the WWE creative team were said to be excited for the storyline, but was inexplicably nixed months before Green debuted on SmackDown and suffered the injury. The storyline would’ve put Mickie in the role Trish had years ago, which is just about what we’re seeing on social media. James has sent some messages back to Green and played along, but for the most part it’s Green obsessing over James. Green has also had fans create their own bizarre comedy graphics, which she has re-tweeted. Green is calling James “MickMick” while James is using “ChelChel” as Green’s nickname. There’s no word on if this is something WWE has them doing, to go with the storyline mentioned above, or if they are working something on social media on their own. It was recently reported that Green has recovered from the wrist injury she suffered in November during her SmackDown debut, and she should be returning to the blue brand soon. She was backstage last Friday with Santana Garrett, but did not appear. Mickie went undrafted in the 2020 WWE Draft last October but is still listed as a RAW Superstar. Her last singles match came on the September 21st RAW, a loss to Zelina Vega, but she did compete in the 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match back in January.
Celebrity fundraising auction site Charitybuzz had a number of WWE related items up for bid last week: an autographed Ric Flair robe; a kilt signed by “Rowdy” Roddy Piper; signed Jake “the Snake” Roberts pants; a “Thunderlips” robe signed by Hulk Hogan, who played that character in the movie Rocky III, and yellow trunks signed by Hogan as well (he also signed his real name, Terry Bollea, on this one). Proceeds from the Flair robe went to the Luanne Elise Foundation, and from everything else went to LBX Sports which provides sports-based learning programs for youth in New York City.
On Twitter, Ric Flair responded to Charlotte Flair’s announcement where Charlotte revealed that testing positive for COVID-19 is the reason she hasn’t been on WWE television recently: “Praying For A Speedy Recovery! You’ve Set The Bar So High. WrestleMania Will Not Be The Same Without The Queen! @MsCharlotteWWE”.
The Miz vs. rapper Bad Bunny has been officially announced for Night One of WrestleMania 37 but WWE may end up changing the match to a tag team bout. It was originally believed that Miz and John Morrison would team up to face Bunny and Damian Priest on The Grandest Stage of Them All in April, as the two teams have been feuding since late January. However, WWE announced Miz vs. Bunny on this week’s RAW, advertising Priest and Morrison to be in their corners. In an update, the match was announced as a singles match because Priest and Morrison are dealing with minor injuries, according to PWInsider. If Morrison and Priest are medically cleared to compete before WrestleMania 37, then WWE reportedly will change Bunny vs. Miz to a tag team match. WWE might even wait until the night of WrestleMania to make the change. It was noted that instead of announcing the tag team match, then being forced to change it, WWE went ahead and announced the Grammy-winning rapper for a singles match at WrestleMania. There’s no word on the injuries that Priest and Morrison are dealing with. Priest defeated Jaxson Ryker on the March 15 RAW show, but did not appear this week with Bunny for the segment with Morrison and The Miz. Morrison has not wrestled since losing to WWE United States Champion Riddle on the February 22 RAW, the night after Elimination Chamber. Monday’s RAW will feature a special edition of The Dirt Sheet with Miz and Morrison revealing their new music video in honor of Bunny. “Hey Hey Hop Hop” is the name of the single.
With no Axxess accompanying WrestleMania this year, WWE has announced that WrestleMania Week will feature virtual meet and greets every day from Monday, April 5th to Monday, April 12th. Tickets for all sessions will go on sale tomorrow at GrowTix.com and start at $125 each. Each ticket includes a 2-minute private one-on-one video with selected WWE Superstars and a downloadable video of your meet & greet which will be available within 2-3 days of the event. The full schedule has Finn Balor, Big E, and Bayley on April 5th, Bianca Belair, Naomi, and A. J. Styles on April 6th, The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston), and Alexa Bliss on April 7th, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley on April 8th, Edge and Seth Rollins on April 9th, Damian Priest, The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford), Kevin Owens, and Jeff Hardy on April 10th, Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, and Candice LaRae on April 11th, and Braun Strowman and Charlotte Flair on April 12th. A&E has released a trailer for their upcoming eight-part Biography event focusing on WWE Legends that premieres on April 18th. Those being profiled include Steve Austin, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Ultimate Warrior, and Bret Hart. To watch the trailer, click here.
The Hollywood Reporter has a story regarding Peacock editing and making modifications to WWE content that is being uploaded to the streaming service, censoring controversial moments that took place over the years. A source told THR that all the 17,000 hours that are being ported from the WWE Network to Peacock are being reviewed to ensure they align with Peacock's standards and practices. WWE was informed of the decision. PWInsider.com. reported earlier that Peacock removed the Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown match from WrestleMania VI already. That match featured Piper sporting blackface, something which is not accepted in today's society. Another moment which was deleted is when Vince McMahon uttered the N-word to John Cena in a backstage segment at the 2005 Survivor Series and then walked straight past Booker T. There have been a lot of racist and controversial moments over the years, especially in the Attitude Era, so you can expect a lot of content to be removed. THR adds that Peacock's goal is to have all the classic content reviewed and available to stream on demand before SummerSlam in August.
The Finn Balor vs Karrion Kross match for the NXT Title was made official last Saturday for "NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver". The match, as expected, will headline night two of Takeover on the WWE Network and Peacock. The NXT Women's Title Match between Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez will headline night one on USA Network. This will be the second title shot for Kross. He won on his first attempt against Keith Lee at "NXT Takeover: XXX" but he had to surrender the belt just a few days later due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the same match. Kross returned to action in January at the "New Year's Evil" broadcast. Balor has been champion since September 8th, winning the vacant title in a match against Adam Cole at "NXT: Super Tuesday II".
Denise Salcedo spoke to Karrion Kross ahead of "NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver" which you can watch by clicking here.
A photo has been circulating that is speculating that for Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard is spurning AEW and will soon sign with WWE. The photo, posted by Hybrid School of Wrestling, shows Blanchard working out in the ring with Kalisto, Sasha Banks, and Bayley, all of whom are currently under contract with WWE. Tessa is the granddaughter of Joe Blanchard and the stepdaughter of Magnum T. A.

The event is advertising Demolition (Eadie as Ax & Darsow as Smash) as well as Masked Superstar (Eadie) and Repo Man (Darsow). No word if they will be appearing in both gimmicks during the event.
