A star of WWE wrestling who mistakenly tagged a Fife MSP in a tweet which went viral has been invited to meet local children.
Mick Foley’s tagged Annabelle Ewing, MSP for Cowdenbeath, in a tweet to his 1.9million followers.
Now she has invited the legendary sports star to talk about his career in a Zoom call to children in her constituency.
She said: “When Mick Foley mistakenly tagged me in a tweet last month my notifications went through the roof.
“Some of the memes that came out of it were pretty funny but I can assure my constituents that I have no plans, whatsoever, of becoming a professional wrestler, nor am I expecting any campaign visits from Mick’s fellow wrestler Big Show!”
She added: “I know that Mick has done a lot of work for children’ charities, so I wondered whether he would be prepared to do a Zoom call with school pupils here about the wrestling world and his time involved in it.
“I’ve tweeted him and we’ll see if anything comes of it.”
Foley had meant to congratulate fellow WWE star Paul Wright on his latest success in the sport, but his tweet auto-corrected to Ms Ewing’s account, leaving her slightly bemused, and with hundreds of new followers.
The mix-up happened because the Twitter accounts for Ms Ewing and the promotion company behind All Elite Wrestling (AEW) - who Foley meant to tag - start in similar fashion.
Foley quickly apologised, adding: ““That was my auto correct being far from correct.”
