Twenty Years Later, The Rematch of Justin Lee and Dexter Hardaway Finally Happens

Twenty Years Later, The Rematch of Justin Lee and Dexter Hardaway Finally Happens

Posted: Mar 11th 2021 By: WAH Press Release

“The Broken Arrow Bad Boy” Justin Lee and Dexter Hardaway have a history that goes back two decades. They are both pioneers in the Oklahoma light heavyweight divisions and “X Division” styles of wrestling. Back in 2001, both men were part of one of Tulsa’s most prestigious federations, OPW. In September of 2001, Justin Lee made his debut against then Light Heavyweight Champion, Dexter “Hard Times” Hardaway. Justin got the upset victory with a “Magistral Cradle” counter and won the title from the more experienced Dexter that night.

Justin Lee, then called Justin “The Future” Lee, went on to dominate the light heavyweight scene of Oklahoma over the next three years, culminating with the Southern States Super 8 Tournament win. Meanwhile Dexter moved on to wrestle around the country and hold titles in several independent federations, establishing himself as an accomplished indy star.

Justin and Dexter did face each other 3 more times in singles matches during the early 2000’s. Once more in OPW at the end of 2001 at the Midnight Rodeo Bar, a match in which Dexter won by DQ after Justin Lee’s ICF tag partner, Outcast, interfered to save Justin’s title. They wrestled twice more in Oklahoma Championship Wrestling. Justin won the first match but Dexter won the second by DQ. The stipulation of that second match was that Dexter could wrestle in a hardcore style, but Justin was forbidden from using weapons. Justin went for his 55 MPH Kick, but Dexter put a chair up in front of his face causing Justin to kick the chair into his face. Controversially, Justin was disqualified for using the chair.

But that last match was in 2002. They have not faced each other in over 18 years. They have each defeated the other two times in the record books. The always volatile Dexter has asked for this rematch to break the stalemate, and Wrestle Against Hunger is going to make it happen! These two wrestling legends will face off one-on-one for possibly the last time on March 27 at the Living Hope Center Gym in North Tulsa. This match promises to be historic. And to add to the drama, at Justin’s last WAH appearance, his career long nemesis, Tim Rockwell, showed up at ringside to cause a distraction. Justin was able to survive the distraction and pin “Inmate” Kris Cruz. Justin has vowed not to go back into retirement until he gets one more match against Tim Rockwell.

WAH does not charge admission, but donations to the Living Hope Fellowship Food ministry is encouraged. Additional information on WRESTLE AGAINST HUNGER Pro Wrestling can be found at www.WrestleAgainstHunger.com.
