Sammy Guevara Allegedly Has Creative Heat With Impact Wrestling

Perhaps this is the pitfalls of working with other promotions, but apparently, Sammy Guevara and Impact Wrestling aren't getting along.

If the story of AEW's Sammy Guevara and the Impact Wrestling promotion not getting along are accurate, it will give WWE fans more ammunition when they argue against the company taking on a strategic crossover partner.

According to recent reports, Guevara was pulled from last week’s Impact Wrestling tapings because there were issues with the creative direction for his character on the show. As part of Guevara leaving the Inner Circle, he was to go to Impact Wrestling after he quit to make an appearance or two. He would be taking a little time away from AEW and make it seem like he'd quit the promotion. In the process, it would prove he didn't need the group and could find work elsewhere.

Allegedly, the idea for Guevara to work Impact tapings was Chris Jericho's idea, and it was presented to and signed off by AEW President Tony Khan.

Things were ready to roll but on the day of the taping, Impact had received a critical message from Guevara about the creative direction of his storyline. The report notes that Impact’s Executive Director Don Callis was contacted by Jericho about pulling him from the tapings and when Guevara got to Nashville, he had received word from Jericho to turn around and go back home.

Dave Meltzer is reporting the Guevara was supposed to be a part of this week's show tapings but Guevara was not used. He also says there is no heat on Guevara from AEW's side because whatever it was Impact was going to do with him was a terrible idea and something Guevara should have said no to.

Meltzer points out that any heat on Guevara by AEW has likely been "blown out of proportion.” but there could be some serious heat from Impact's side.

Already Issues With The Partnership?

This could suggest that there are early issues with the two promotions crossing over and working together. As would be the case with any two brands both trying to make their own stars look strong, it's not surprising to hear there might be a few hiccups.

Beyond financial reasons, this is probably why WWE doesn't ever look at this kind of thing.
