NEWS
Matt Sydal is a guest on "AEW’s Unrestricted" podcast. He talks about some words of wisdom he gave to Snoop Dogg before he did the “Snoop Splash” live on 'AEW Dynamite'. Matt also had some encouraging words for himself after his not-so-perfect AEW debut at the "All Out" Casino Battle Royale. He tells that story along with the last-minute phone call he received about the surprise booking. He offers insight to the Third Eye gimmick, what it means to have a “Sydalic Mentality,” risk-taking in the ring, and why he is solely focused on the TNT Championship. Plus, Matt tells stories about working with Cody Rhodes, Chaos Project, learning from AEW coaches like Dean Malenko and Tully Blanchard, his love of Japanese death matches, and tagging with Ricochet at NJPW. The wrestling world outside of WWE continues to recognize each other and cross borders that have never been crossed before. NJPW has announced that last Wednesday's "AEW Dynamite" main event pitting IWGP United States Champion John Moxley & Lance Archer vs. KENTA & AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a No DQ/Falls Count Anywhere Tag Team Match along with bonus footage would be available on their streaming service Friday. NJPW’s Roku channel debuted Thursday as well.

2K has announced that they are releasing more free content for WWE Battlegrounds. Some of the content is unlocked and some has to be bought or earned in the game. Coming out next are Doink the Clown and Vader on February 17th, Cactus Jack on February 24th, Big Bossman on March 3rd, and Jim Neidhart on March 10th.

Kane made his debut at "In Your House: Badd Blood" in 1997 during the Hell In A Cell Match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Kane came out and immediately made his presence felt as he delivered the Tombstone Piledriver to the Undertaker, costing him brother the match. During "Something To Wrestle With", Bruce Prichard discussed original plans WWE had for Kane on the main roster. This would have seen Brother Love as his manager. The plan did not come to fruition in the end as Vince McMahon cancelled it after one promo run-through. “We actually had an idea for me to come back and end up managing Kane with dark red hair…Now, this was 1997-ish, maybe ’98, so it had to be right after that [Kane debuted at Badd Blood in October 1997]. Shortly after that. But the idea was that my hair was red, basically, the color of Undertaker’s hair and the idea was that I was going to come back under the auspices of helping The Undertaker feud with his brother Kane. We would basically do a kind of a switch, but after the promos, Vince [McMahon], classic Vince, can tell you that you’re a piece of sh*t and that it really sucks by telling you how great you are. Then you walk away feeling good but just sh*t all over. [Imitating McMahon] ‘Goddamnit pal, that’s not a heel promo, that’s a babyface promo. Goddamn that was strong. Strong, Strong. Way to go.’”

Carlito will be a guest on an upcoming "After the Bell" hosted by Corey Graves.

Former WWE Champion C. M. Punk recently got a new tattoo to honor the late WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race, who passed away in 2019. Chicago tattoo artist Nick Colella revealed on Instagram that he was doing the piece. Punk first stated back in 2019 that he was planning the tattoo. “Stoked to do this memorial for pro wrestler Harley Race on his friend @cmpunk thanks for the trust,” Nick wrote on Instagram. Punk often spoke highly of Race and noted back in 2019 that Race was such a big piece of his career that he deserved to be memorialized.

Tony Atlas was on the Boston Wrestling MWF YouTube show and he has this to say about today’s wrestlers: “I’m a senior citizen and I believe I could whoop half of those guys. They are all wimps and they cry about everything.” He went on to say that Serena Williams has more muscles than Seth Rollins.

Mick Foley sent out best wishes to Terry Funk, his friend, mentor, occasional tag team partner, and occasional opponent. This follows a message that was posted this past weekend by Cody Rhodes, who noted that The Funker was experiencing excruciating hip pain recently. Last week, Funk sent out a melancholy Twitter message asking that people no longer send him pictures to be autographed, during which he notes that he’s tired, and getting “lame-brained.”

Mr. Nasty tore his hamstring in the Triple Threat Match against Luke Langley and Killbane at the CPW event last week. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan congratulates Erik and his wife, pro wrestler Sarah Logan, on the birth of their son Raymond Cash on February 9th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Bud Guffey on the passing of his aunt Martha on February 7th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of John Renesto, who passed away on January 27th at the age of 71. His real name was John Joseph Renesto and cause of death at this time is not known. John was a 3rd generation wrestler as his grandfather Tom, his father Tom, Jr. (AKA Assassin #1) and his mother Kathy Branch were all wrestlers. His brother Tom III also wrestled using the name Tom Renesto, Jr. John began his pro wrestling career in 1973 as Tim Renesto. Throughout his career his used the names Speed Manson, Speedy Tall Tree, and Tim Tall Tree. After wrestling for a few years, he then became a referee for WCCW. After WCCW was sold to Continental Wrestling Association to become USWA, he wrestled a match for USWA in Dallas, TX in 1990. He stayed retired until 2001 when he made a brief comeback wrestling mostly in Tennessee. There are no documented matches for Renesto in Oklahoma but because he was a referee for WCCW when the company did regular shows in Oklahoma, he does have a bio here on Oklafan.
