Masked Men Are Reinventing Tag Team Wrestling In “Wrestle Against Hunger”

Posted: Jan 18th 2021 By: Press Release

WRESTLE AGAINST HUNGER crowned their first ever Tag Team Champions, Elijah Sparks & El Greengo Loco (aka Los Loco Moscas) at the end of 2020. This masked tag team is often overlooked in the big picture of Oklahoma Tag Team wrestling, but Sparks and Loco are looking to change all that.

Masked wrestling is nothing new. The art form of wrestling in a mask goes back many years in professional wrestling both in America and internationally. Great Oklahoma masked wrestlers like OPW’s The Great Bolo, Grenade, and Tarantula are nothing new. There have been masked tag teams in the past like the Asian Triad or The Casualties of War (Shrapnel and Malice). It’s hard not to find a masked wrestler or two on any card in Oklahoma today. So why did these two choose the mask?

Elijah Sparks was always a fan of superheroes. There was an appeal to that mystery of who was underneath the mask and by wearing the mask the ordinary individual became something greater. The design of Spark’s mask is a tribute one of his favorite wrestlers and fellow superhero, Hurricane Helms. Sparks is also the cousin to local independent wrestler Big Smooth. He looked up to Big Smooth and wanted to be just like him. So when he was finally old enough, he joined the world of professional wrestling. Sparks and Loco first met while both were at a BPW training class. Loco came up to Sparks and introduced himself and the two felt an instant connection. Not only partners, but they are also good friends. El Greengo Loco took Sparks under his wing and taught him the ways of the Super Hero, and the two have been partners ever since.

LOS LOCO MOSCAS faces their biggest challenge yet on February 27, 2021 at WAH: REBORN when they must now defend those tag team titles against Giganto and Brawler Morrison. They may be the under dogs that night, but never count out these two superheroes.

WAH returns with their first show of the year on February 27, 2021 at 7 PM at the Living Hope Fellowship’s Hope Center Gymnasium. The seating will be spaced out and limited. Temperature checks will be performed at the door. Masks are required. The admission is free, but if you are able to donate to the ministry, it is encouraged to help keep these events going. You can even donate using paypal (paypal.me/livinghopeturley) or Cash App ($livinghopeTurley).
