Two new segments have been announced for the first night of New Year's Smash.
Tony Khan announced this evening that Sting will be making an appearance on the show. Sting has been a regular on Dynamite in recent weeks, usually in segments where Darby Allin and Cody appear. He and Allin appeared on last week’s show, sending Team Taz (Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, and Powerhouse Hobbs) bailing after they attacked the team of Cody Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, and 10 of the Dark Order following their match.
Allin will also be on the show as part of a weigh-in with his future opponent, Brian Cage. Allin is scheduled to defend the TNT title against Cage on January 13, the second night of New Year’s Smash.
Here is the full card for tomorrow’s show:
Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix for the AEW World title
Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Sydal
Hikaru Shida vs. Abadon for the AEW Women’s title
The Young Bucks & SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels) vs. The Acclaimed & TH2
Jake Hager vs. Wardlow
Jon Moxley scheduled to return
Chris Jericho to appear on commentary
Snoop Dogg to appear
