Former WWE Star Matt Sydal Officially Signs Contract With AEW

AEW has used him in a few matches, but Matt Sydal was offiicially offered a contract on Tuesday and has signed, joining the regular AEW roster.
He's appeared here and there and his matches have been sprinkled throughout AEW programming, but Matt Sydal was not officially a part of AEW. At least, not until Tuesday when the wrestling promotion signed him to an official contract.
Sydal, a well-traveled independent wrestler is most likely known to wrestling fans for his time in WWE as Evan Bourne. He hasn't been a part of WWE for some time, but the company has been in the news lately for signing a few talents away from AEW Dark, and as they potentially look to sign a few more from the AEW brand, Tony Khan and company have ensured Sydal won't be among them.
Sydal doesn't exactly have a glowing record in AEW but he's still among the promotion's most experienced wrestlers. Win or lose, he's a viable commodity and will bring a level of professionalism and experience that can't hurt a brand that is trying to establish new stars.
Sydal officially wrapped up with ROH last month at their TV tapings and that has essentially freed him up to sign wherever he wanted. He debuted in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out and we'll see where AEW uses him going forward.
More Former WWE Stars Or Good Idea By AEW?
This signing will be polarizing as is the case anytime AEW signs a former WWE talent. Some will say this is just AEW grabbing another washed-out star from Vince McMahon's playground. Others will note that Sydal hasn't been in WWE for years and he's almost as established as an indie guy as he is a WWE guy.
