Impact Inc. continues its reign of terror; O'Malley hospitalized

Impact Inc. continues its reign of terror; O'Malley hospitalized

Posted: Oct 8th 2007 By: mikeiles

The October 6th IZW show started out innocently enough as ring announcer Steve O came to the ring and began welcoming the enthusiastic crowd to the show and running down the card. John Zorthos, Bernie Donderwitz, and Brad Michaels of Impact, Inc. came to the ring and interrupted him. It was then that Impact, Inc. began the evening by shocking the fans and putting all IZW wrestlers on notice.

John Zorthos, who is also primary owner of IZW, called every wrestler in attendance to ringside for an impromptu staff meeting. He then called their attention to the ZorthoTron 420 as a video that was shot last week began to play. The video showed IZW Tag Team Champion Kenny Campbell in a deserted parking lot then being hit by a white pickup truck. The video then showed Zorthos himself beating on a tied up Campbell telling him to never show his face in IZW again. The video concluded and Zorthos claimed that because of him Team Shenanigans will never be seen in IZW ever again. He then explained the reason for showing everyone the video. He explained that everyone in IZW from ring announcer Steve O, to the wrestlers, the referees, even the fans, could be replaced. He went on to say that the only person that was not replacable was John Zorthos himself. Zorthos then dismissed the wrestlers and he and Donderwitz gave way to Michaels who had a match against Dane Griffin who was making his IZW debut.

While Griffin showed some flashes of brilliance and a few 2-counts on Michaels including one following a beautiful Fisherman's Suplex, the veteran Michaels won the match after delivering a thunderous piledriver to his younger opponent. After picking up the win, Michaels began berating IZW Impact Division Champion John O'Malley calling him a no good, low life scumbag. Michaels claimed he knew O'Malley better than anyone, referring to their days as Old School Assassins members. Referee Thomas Patrick came back to the ring with a black bag and handed it to Michaels, who then revealed the contents of the bag as a dog collar and chain. Michaels challenged O'Malley to a Dog Collar Match at the IZW show on October 13th and demanded a reply to his challenge. The ZorthoTron 420 powered up and there was The Irish Phenom accepting the challenge.

Later, O'Malley was defending the Impact Division Title against Handsome Jack Dalton. Although O'Malley had Dalton outweighed by at least 100 pounds, Dalton began working on O'Malley's shoulder to try to gain an advantage on the big man and hopefully wrest the title from him in only his 2nd IZW match. O'Malley's strength and determination won out as he picked up the win. As O'Malley was soaking up the adulation and cheers of the fans, Brad Michaels came racing through the front door with a chair in hand and came over the ringside barricade and in the ring to attack O'Malley. He used the chair to crush O'Malley's larynx and then gave O'Malley a piledriver on the chair. That is when things went wrong. O'Malley laid motionless as Michaels continued attacking. Referee Thomas Patrick signaled to the back for some help and made an "X" sign with his arms. Bernie Donderwitz came out and after pulling Michaels off of O'Malley, completely broke character and began checking on O'Malley as the rest of the IZW locker room came to the ring. After escorting Michaels to the locker room, Donderwitz came back to the ring to check on O'Malley's status. Steve O called for an ambulance and the wrestlers removed O'Malley from the ring per his request. They carried O'Malley to the locker room and the show went to a brief intermission. During the intermission O'Malley laid on the floor until the ambulance arrived. He did have feeling in his fingers and toes at the time he was loaded into the ambulance and taken to a local hospital.

After the intermission, Steve O announced that O'Malley had been taken to the hospital for examination and at the time he was listed in serious condition. He continued by saying that sometimes things happen during the course of a wrestling show that is not "part of the show" and this was one of those times.

It should be noted however that the first match after intermission pitted John Zorthos & Bernie Donderwitz against Nathan Sensation & Montego Seeka. As Zorthos & Donderwitz were coming to the ring, Zorthos was seen holding his neck in a mocking fashion and laughing, while Donderwitz did not seem at all amused.

Oklafan found out later that O'Malley had been taken to Integris Medical Center Southwest in Oklahoma City and was being kept overnight for observation. We later found out that O'Malley was released Sunday afternoon and was told by doctors to take it easy for a few days and they would do more tests later in the week. At this time there is no word on whether or not O'Malley will be cleared to wrestle in next week's Dog Collar Match.

Fans that want to send their prayers and well wishes to O'Malley can do so at the IZW website at IZWrestling.com.
