Tag Team Legends Demolition Reunite At CIW Event

Posted: Oct 7th 2007 By: CMBurnham

Takikng a trip back to big-time wrestling of the 1980s should be no trouble for fans this weekend as Ax & Smash of Demolition come to town for their first tag team performance in nearly 16 years.

Demolition was one of the most highly regarded tag teams in the history of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and are famous for their theme song "Pain and Destruction" and their very memorable, ominous look. Demolition wore black leather vests, leather chaps and gloves with spikes and black hockey masks to go along with their fully painted faces and nothing will have changed as they invade the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds at 7pm Saturday.

"Demolition just got back together and are starting a tour in the Midwest and we are thrilled to be able to bring the local fans a real treat and a once in a lifetime experience." event organizer Phil Monohan said.

Demolition will be taking on the local Championship Wrestling International duo of Nitro & Chainsaw, better known as Mayhem. They will be the feature match on a card of five or six bouts. Also on the card will be special guest "Hot Shot" Johnny Devine, a Canadian pro wrestler who is now often seen on Spike TV in Total Nonstop Action (TNA) coverage.

"It's some good old school wrestling and names for people to see right here at home," Monohan said. "There will also be lots of favourite locals of the CIW on display and we're ready to give people a great show."

"Demolition was often compared to the Road Warriors of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and many other big-time tandems, so this will be a treat." Monohan said. "All of the wrestlers are over 300 pounds and have wrestled for quite a long time, so it should be quite a match."

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door or VIP passes are $20. VIP passes give the fans a ringside seat and complimentary hot dog, popcorn and soda.

Tickets are onsale at Checker Records at Hillsdale, The Market House in Hudson and The Friendly Store in Waldon.
