Abuse of power! SWCW in shambles!
Posted: Oct 2nd 2007 By: mikeiles
A little over a month and a half ago, Sooner World Class Wrestling was a thriving organization. The most popular wrestler in the company was Rick Garrett and he held the Heavyweight Title. Trailer Park Trash, the most popular tag team in the company, was hot on the heels of the Tag Team Champions Texas, Inc. Striker was the #1 contender to the Heavyweight Title and he had a strong fan base as well. Commissioner Mike Iles was in charge and appeared to be one of the most fan friendly commissioners in the state in recent memory. My how times have changed.
The September 29th event began with Commissioner Mike Iles coming to the ring and saying since ring announcer Jesse Storm is continuing his boycott of SWCW shows, he was going to bring out the guest ring announcer Dexter Hardaway, who came to the ring with wet hair and wearing a bathrobe. Hardaway said that he had received a call from Mike's secretary earlier in the day while he was on the golf course saying he was required to be in attendance. Iles reminded Hardaway that although he was retired he still had 3 dates left on his contract and tonight he would once again be ring announcing.
So Hardaway started the show and the first match was Sooner Xtreme Champion Captain Luc Lapointe, accompanied to the ring by Superstar Beau Dalton, defending the title against a mystery opponent. Iles banned Dalton from ringside much to the dismay of Lapointe. Iles told Lapointe to trust him but Lapointe had some speculation before finally relenting. Iles then announced the mystery opponent as Superstar Beau Dalton. The match itself was a complete and total farce as they laid down for one another for repeated 2-counts before Beau finally "pinned" Luc for the title win.
After intermission, Iles came out to address the Tag Team Titles situation. Iles had never seen eye to eye with Texas, Inc. and their manager Big Stevie Caballero, at least before Iles showed his evil side. However, Texas, Inc. has not competed in SWCW since Iles turned against the fans. With "Night of Champions" fast approaching, SWCW received word that Texas, Inc. would be unable to defend the titles due to prior commitments, notably Compound Pro Wrestling. No one knew how Iles would respond. Would he allow Texas, Inc. to skip out on "Night of Champions"? Would he strip the titles from Texas, Inc.? If he did strip them, would he give them to the fan favorites, Trailer Park Trash? Iles did in fact strip Texas, Inc. of the titles and as he was about to announce who was named as new champions, TPT's theme music hit. They came to the ring and after Iles cleared his confusion between the two brothers, he explained to them that they were not being named Tag Team Champions. He then proceeded to announce the new champs, Captain Luc Lapointe & Superstar Beau Dalton. But Iles reminded TPT that he was still a wrestling fan and gave them their much anticipated title shot. The match went back and forth and Iles began the match sitting beside Dexter Hardaway. But then Iles began openly cheering for and giving direction to Lapointe & Dalton. During the match, Iles was also seen talking on his cell phone. The tide turned and K. C. hit the Swanton and was about to seal the victory for TPT. Iles rang the bell and announced that the time limit had expired at 11:02. The fans, TPT, Dexter Hardaway, and Rob Justice were incensed. Later it was discovered that Iles had secured the services of the new tag team champions and they are now full fledged members of his organization.
The very next match, Striker, with Iles at ringside, defended the title against MSWA Tag Team Champion Outlaw and just as he did in a non-title Triple Threat Match against AWOL and Outlaw on September 1st, Striker used the title that was tossed to him by Iles to hit his opponent. Only this time, when Striker used the title to knock out Outlaw, SWCW senior official Rob Justice saw what happened and disqualified the champ. Then the unthinkable happened, Handsome Jack Dalton appeared in SWCW for the first time since SWCW's first show on February 11th. In fact, Dalton had wrestled IZW Tag Team Champion Kenny Campbell in IZW just a little over an hour before coming over to The Underground Arena. Dalton entered the ring and attacked Outlaw. He then jumped out of the ring to check on Iles, who had been decked by Outlaw. They hugged and Dalton grabbed the title as Iles stood up Outlaw for one more title shot to the head. Iles then got on the mic and said that his newest acquisition was in fact Handsome Jack Dalton. Rob Justice and Dexter Hardaway both voiced their disapproval as Iles chastised Justice for not calling the match "the right way". Justice had enough, removed his referee shirt and said he quit. He then left the ring and later entered the Hardcore Battle Royal. Hardaway on the other hand kept his cool as he knew with Striker and Jack Dalton in the ring he was vastly outnumbered. He said he wanted to talk to Iles but with Striker and Jack out of the ring. Hardaway voiced his displeasure of Iles and said that everyone in the locker room was tired of Mike and his chicanery. Iles reminded Hardaway that he was still under contract for 2 more dates and he would do whatever Iles himself saw fit for Dexter to do, then slapped him. Dexter looked back at Iles and delivered a thunderous slap to Iles and then left ringside as well.
With Rob Justice quitting his post as senior official of SWCW, and Jesse Storm continuing his SWCW boycott, and now Dexter Hardaway apparently walking away as well, where does that leave SWCW in the way of referees and ring announcing? A masked referee officiated the Hardcore Battle Royal but that match was not sanctioned by SWCW. Is this masked official a sanctioned referee? No one has seen or heard from SWCW official J. T. Hamilton III for some time either.
Oklafan speculated that with Iles as commissioner and also being somewhat crooked, the inmates would be running the asylum. Now that Iles and his group control the Heavyweight Title, the Sooner Xtreme Title, and the Tag Team Titles, our worst fears may have come true. When contacted for the story, Iles responded "The fans need to know that this entire thing is a reality. We are the alternative to traditional wrestling and we do have unlimited excellence. Striker and I knew we needed more people to continue our dominance. Captain Luc Lapointe & Superstar Beau Dalton were easily the best choice for a tag team I could find. During Beau & Luc's grueling match against The Swizzle Stick Twins (Editor's Note: Trailer Park Trash), I received a phone call from Handsome Jack Dalton and we finalized his contract as well. With Striker, Captain Luc Lapointe, Superstar Beau Dalton, and Handsome Jack Dalton, you would think I have all the wrestlers I need to rule SWCW. Maybe I do and maybe I don't. It is basically endless possibilities."
