NEWS
Robyn Reid recently posted on her Facebook page indicating that during her time in IZW, she had advances made on her by IZW owner Johnny Z. This occurred during her time as IZW Women’s Champion. According to her statement, while waiting before an IZW event began, Johnny Z came up to her and said “Let’s go outside and make out. Come on. Let’s do it.” She looked him, laughed and said no, but he was adamant. Even though she was the women’s champion, she knew at that point that she needed to drop the title and never return. This is one of two occasions that she documented in her Facebook post.

The dark day in professional wrestling continues with many women #SpeakingOut on being abused, raped, and hit with several stories accusing many wrestling personalities, mostly in the United Kingdom. But there have been names from across the pond too and the latest one is a 20-year-old Danielle Ryan who three years ago at the age of 17 was getting courted by AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts via direct messages on Twitter. "I’ve held onto these for a long time. I felt ashamed and like somehow it was my fault. I was 17, naive, had never been spoke to in such a manner," Ryan wrote in a tweet, attaching screenshots of her conversations with Roberts. "It makes me so uncomfortable looking back at it now. Legal or not, a man in his 30’s has no right to talk to a teenager." Roberts said he would not save whatever she sends him and it would be "just for now" and "don't have to be totally exposed." After a few more exchanges, Roberts replies, "Ur really making my mind wander...hard. Can I see? :)" After nearly seven hours of no reply, Ryan replies saying she had work calls and apologizes. "Didn't even send a wake up gift :-/" Roberts says. After several other direct messages exchanges, Roberts asks if she can send something that's already on her phone so he doesn't have to keep waiting. "Ugh, I feel awful for just seeing this, but hey. You okay?" Ryan replies the next day. "Yes," Roberts say. That was the last communication as the DM feature was then disabled by Roberts.

Impact Wrestling’s Joey Ryan issued a long statement on his social media channels after his name cropped up as one of those who sexually abused female wrestlers throughout the years. Ryan said that this is an important topic that truly deserves the time it is getting even though it is uncomfortable. “After speaking with my attorney, I have been advised not to respond to any specific allegations at this time. And the truth of the matter is, I do not want to spend time dissecting which parts of stories are true, which parts are different from what I remember and which things being said are outright false. It is important for me to use this platform to take responsibility and not attempt to minimize the feelings of anyone that was hurt by me in order to save face,” Ryan wrote. Ryan said that today he must take responsibility for the way he behaved in the past, noting that when the “dick flip” went viral, he traveled the world like a rockstar and came into contact with a lot of people, including women. “And, the truth is, I did not always treat people with respect. And I will acknowledge that it was possible that I pursued people that I thought were interested in me and invaded their personal space and made them feel uncomfortable in the process,” he wrote. The popular star added that he and his wife separated two years ago and he entered counseling in October 2018 and still attend every week to this very day. “I have been on prescription medication. I have worked every day for nearly two years to be a person that respects not only people’s boundaries, but respects people. If you felt that you were a person that I did not treat with respect, I apologize. Aside from this post, I have been reaching out to some of the people involved and we have had positive interactions and started the healing process.” Ryan said that he worked hard to make “wrestling a safe and welcoming place for everyone” and will make up for his shortcomings by working harder in the future. His somewhat apology received a mixed reaction and was not welcomed by his accusers. One in particular, a British indie wrestler by the name of Jetta, called him a “piece of sh*t” and said that two weeks after he proposed to his wife, he made sure that the two of them were the only ones in a taxi back to the hotel after a show and kept trying to hold her hand no matter how many times she told him to “get the f*ck off” her. “I asked you about your partner you didn’t give sh*t, you kept trying to put your hand on mine. We got to the hotel you wanted me to come to your room I said no I waited for you to get your key and didn’t want you to know my room or get in a lift alone with you. I had the confidence to tell you to f*ck off and you still persisted you hide behind this ‘good guy’ persona you are not. From my experience you don’t take no for an answer, you are notorious,” Jetta wrote in a reply to Ryan’s tweet.

AEW announced the signing of Ricky Starks to their ever-growing roster. Starks previously worked for the NWA and won their Television Title at the company’s "Hard Times" pay-per-view earlier this year. He eventually lost it to Zicky Dice during an episode of "NWA Powerrr" which aired in March. Starks answered Cody’s challenge for the TNT Title Wednesday but came up short in his quest to take Cody’s title. Prior to signing with AEW, Starks worked the indie circuit and wrestled for ComPro, IWR, Anarchy Championship Wrestling, Inspire Pro Wrestling, WrestleCircus, Xtreme Championship Wrestling, and many others. He also appeared on WWE television multiple times as an enhancement talent ans well as ROH.

As a part of last Friday night’s double feature on Shudder’s The Last Drive-In, host Joe Bob Briggs played Hell Comes to Frogtown starring Roddy Piper. During his commentary, Briggs extolled the virtues of Abdullah The Butcher’s House of Ribs and Chinese Food in Atlanta, Georgia, saying it was his favourite restaurant there. Although he never tried the Chinese food, the barbecue was some of the best he ever had which is why he returned time and time again. Unfortunately, that location was closed in 2016.
