After returning to Raw's commentary team, it didn't take long for Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler to find himself in a bit of hot water.
After returning to Raw's commentary team, it didn't take long for Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler to find himself on the receiving end of fan backlash for comments he made during the Monday night broadcast.
Out of concern for his age and possible health precautions, the 70-year-old was kept away from the recent series of WWE tapings. But, on Monday, he returned to Raw's commentary team for Raw. It will be interesting to see if he stays there after what some are calling racially insensitive and unprofessional remarks.
Lawler started trending worldwide on Twitter Monday night as, during a match between Austin Theory and Akira Tozawa, he referred to a senton off the apron as a "Ramen Noodle Moonsault". No one reacted on the show and WWE didn't address the remarks but social media exploded.

A number of fans immediately called Lawler out for the remarks, many calling them racist, others calling them unprofessional. WWE must have realized that Lawler stirred up controversy because the line has been edited out of the Hulu version of WWE Raw.
While it's clear Lawler was trying to make a joke, it's unclear why he would focus on something that many have associated to Tozawa's heritage or origin. Needless to say, the majority of viewers believe it was in bad taste.
WWE Will Have A Decision To Make
It will be interesting to see if Lawler remains on Raw or if the Hall of Famer is pulled from the broadcast again amidst controversy. WWE has a built-in excuse with his age, but pulling him might draw even more attention to the matter.
