AJ Styles returns to WWE TV on Raw
Posted: Feb 18th 2020 By: Joseph Currier
AJ Styles was back on WWE television tonight for the first time since the Royal Rumble.
Styles' return furthered the build to both Super ShowDown and WrestleMania 36. He came to the ring with Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and cut a promo asking what WrestleMania season would be like without him. Anderson said that -- as far as he and Gallows are concerned -- Styles is the new Mr. WrestleMania. Styles also called himself the greatest wrestler on any roster or of any era.
Styles was interrupted by Ricochet after talking about what's next for him and mentioning potentially challenging the WWE Champion. Styles said he doesn't care who it is -- it could be Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Ricochet, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Diesel, Sting, Hulk Hogan, or the entire nWo.
Styles told Ricochet that he was just being nice by mentioning his name. He said Ricochet doesn't deserve a title shot and no one believes he'll be WWE Champion. Ricochet challenged Styles to a match right then, but Anderson said he couldn't allow Styles' first match back on Raw to be against Ricochet. Ricochet then defeated Anderson.
After separating his shoulder in the men's Royal Rumble last month, Styles will return to the ring in the Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match at Super ShowDown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, February 27. Andrade, Rusev, Bobby Lashley, R-Truth, and Erick Rowan are the other wrestlers in the match.
Ricochet is challenging Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Super ShowDown. The winner will defend their title against McIntyre at WrestleMania 36.
Dave Meltzer confirmed last Friday that Styles vs. Undertaker is planned for WrestleMania 36.
Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida is hosting WrestleMania on April 5.
