Chris Jericho Hangs Out With EC3, Sparking AEW Rumors

Chris Jericho Hangs Out With EC3, Sparking AEW Rumors

Posted: Feb 10th 2020 By: Alex Hoegler - Sportster.com

Chris Jericho is one of the marquee superstars for AEW, and he's been widely credited with recruiting Jon Moxley -- previously known as Dean Ambrose in WWE -- to join the new promotion.

Jericho is one of the primary leaders in AEW, both in and out of the ring. If he and company officials are keen on adding more former WWE talents to their roster, one has to assume that Jericho would happily offer a strong pitch.

And perhaps Jericho is doing just that right now.

On his Instagram page, the AEW World Champion shared a photo of himself with WWE superstar EC3. Jericho also tagged AEW in the post:

Great chat with @therealec3 tonight in Orlando! Big things coming in the future for this talented brother .... @allelitewrestling

EC3 in AEW is a rumor to keep a close eye on. It was reported last month that Vince McMahon is giving up on pushing the four-time 24/7 Champion. Earlier this week, it was also reported that WWE abandoned the "EC3" trademark, which is a telling sign that creative doesn't have anything big planned for him. EC3 joined WWE in Jan. 2018, following an illustrious run with the rival TNA/Impact Wrestling promotion.

Of course, EC3 isn't the only former TNA star that was strongly underused after signing with WWE. Mike and Maria Kanellis were two of TNA's premier talents, but they haven't been used much in WWE.

Up until his recent feud with Rusev, Bobby Lashley -- a four-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion -- wasn't seeing a lot of television time. It simply doesn't look like EC3 is going to be used much down the road, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he and WWE parted ways in the near future.

EC3 Would Be Better Off In AEW

Cody, Jericho and AEW officials know how to make the most of all their talents, and they'd undoubtedly do the same here with EC3. The latter has the makings to be a true main event star, but WWE has never given him a chance. Hopefully, Vince does the right thing and eventually cuts him loose, allowing EC3 to find better success elsewhere.
