NEWS
PWInsider.com is reporting that they have heard from those within the company that Sting is being lined up to play a major part in the upcoming Saudi Arabia show next month. "Over the last 24 hours, several sources within WWE have told PWInsider.com that there’s been a lot of talk that WWE Hall of Famer Sting will be a major part of the 2/27 Saudi Arabia event next month, possibly even returning to the ring for one more match," the PWInsider report states. The headline also suggests that Sting could very well be making a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble tonight to get the ball rolling for his involvement in the show. Sting has not wrestled since his WWE title match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in 2015. He was injured that night after Rollins performed a turnbuckle powerbomb on him which resulted in a very bad neck injury. The match was cut short after Sting was barely able to move. He announced his retirement at the Hall of Fame ceremony in 2016.

AEW’s Sammy Guevara was in Houston, Texas and decided to have some fun outside the Minute Maid Park where the Royal Rumble is being held. Channeling his inner DX, Guevara showed up in a kid tank, a plastic machine gun, and a microphone to spoof the DX invasion of WCW. With an AEW pass around his neck, Guevara roamed around the parking lot and even cut a promo. The 26-year-old has been one of the highlights of All Elite Wrestling and is now part of the Inner Circle faction with Chris Jericho. Guevara is from Katy, Texas, just 30 miles west of Houston.

Tons of rumors regarding The Royal Rumble. There was a lot of talk going around regarding Edge as a surprise for Sunday's show. That talk had been going on for months. Mike Johnson reported that Santino Marella, Shane McMahon, Undertaker, Dominick Gutierrez and Ric Flair were all there and teased the idea of Sting being there to set up something for Saudi Arabia on 2/27. It was noted that it looks like they may have changed standards if Sting is cleared since both he and Edge had years back been flagged due to neck issues from ever taking another bump by WWE.

Killer Kross pulled out of his 2/15 date for NHPW in Perth, Australia and has been pulling out of all dates after the next few weeks. He had recently met with Paul Levesque and has told he'd be fast-tracked.

Matt Sydal has opened a wrestling school in Clearwater, FL called Sy Dojo. For more info, go here

As with every Royal Rumble, there are those who last a long time, those who barely made it in, those who cleaned house, and those who, well, didn't do much at all. Here are some interesting statistics from this year's Royal Rumble matches. In the women's match, Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler were responsible for eliminating 16 women. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss threw out four more each so the majority of the participants were eliminated by just four women. Liv Morgan, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Chelsea Green, and Beth Phoenix were the only other ones who managed to throw someone else out of the match. Bianca Belair lasted the longest this year with 33 minutes and 20 seconds on the clock. She was followed by the eventual winner, Charlotte Flair, who did 26 minutes 19 seconds. On the other end of that, Chelsea Green only lasted 12 seconds before being eliminated by Alexa Bliss and Sarah Logan followed with just 28 seconds. Santina Marella eliminated him/herself from the match after just one minute and one second. This year's match had a heavy NXT presence. Only six were from Raw, seven were from Smackdown, 11 from NXT, and one from NXT UK while three were not associated with any brand. The women's match lasted 54 minutes and 20 seconds, 18 minutes less from last year's Rumble match. The men's match was dominated by Brock Lesnar, the WWE champion who took out 13 men before he was eliminated by the winner, Drew McIntyre with a little assist from Ricochet. Lesnar entered number one and lasted 26 minutes and 24 seconds and threw out Elias, Erick Rowan, Robert Roode, John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, Big E, Cesaro, Shelton Benjamin, Shinsuke Nakamura, MVP, Keith Lee, and Braun Strowman. Apart from Lesnar, only Drew McIntyre, Edge, King Corbin, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins eliminated other competitors with Drew managing six behind Lesnar's 13. Drew McIntyre lasted the longest with 34 minutes and 11 seconds on the clock. Lesnar was second and the returning Edge had an impressive 23 minutes and 43 seconds with three eliminations to his name. The quickest elimination went to Erick Rowan with just eight seconds only and John Morrison followed with nine seconds. Nine WWE Superstars were eliminated in a minute or less. Unlike the women's match, only two from NXT took part in this match - Keith Lee and Matt Riddle. 14 represented Raw, 12 represented Smackdown, and two were not associated with any brand. Apart from Edge, the only other surprise was MVP. Rusev, Lashley, Buddy Murphy, Otis, and Tucker, who were originally announced for the match, did not participate. Otis did show up during the women's Rumble match and helped save Mandy Rose from elimination with some, er, innovative ways. The men's match lasted one hour and 50 seconds, three minutes more than last year's match.

MVP was expected to do more dates but not be a regular going forward. Sunday night was his first show with the company in more than nine years when he left to join New Japan Pro Wrestling. However, after his match with Rey Misterio on RAW Monday, MVP announced that his time with WWE is over and he specifically did that match because he wanted his son to see him compete in the WWE.

The Rock-N-Roll Express were officially announced for the 2020 Crockett Cup at the most recent NWA television tapings.

Friday Night Smackdown on FOX from Tulsa did 2,423,000 viewers, off hours 2,529,000 and 2,318,000. That is down 46,000 viewers from last week's show. Smackdown tied #1 in the 18-49 demographic chart with CBS' Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-O, getting a 0.7 rating. Smackdown only beat The CW programming and ABC's Fresh Off The Boat in terms of total viewership and trailed everything else.

Flex Zerba, El Fuego del Sol, Damon Windsor, Urn Stokes, Niles Plonk, Skylar Slice, Killista, Erica and Latrell Upton were all backstage at the WWE Friday Night Smackdown show. Several of them were planned as throne bearers for King Corbin, but that entrance got cancelled at the last minute.

A. J. Styles suffered a separated shoulder in the Royal Rumble. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Beth Phoenix suffered a deep laceration to the back of her head during the Women's Royal Rumble match. Oklafan wishes her a speedy recovery.
