NEWS
Annalynn Storm & Damon Windsor were present at the AEW broadcast from Garland, TX and AnnaLynn posted pictures of their son in the ring with several AEW wrestlers as well as AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts. “Thanks to my son’s buddy Justin Roberts my baby, who we must refer to now as “Whatever”, was able to get in the ring in front of thousands of fans with his favorite All Elite Wrestling performer Orange Cassidy and he even beat Cody Rhodes in a match! My heart is so grateful! What a wonderful birthday celebration 😎👍🍊 #AEW #OrangeCassidy #AEWDark #OrangeCassidyKid #AEWDallas #OrangeCassidyBaby #BFFs #ThatsMyBaby #Whatever”

Raw cut it super close towards the end of the show and the three count that saw Rey Mysterio pin AJ Styles barely made it on TV as WWE ran out of time. The end credits graphic went up for 17 seconds before the match even ended as AJ went for the second Styles Clash which was reversed into an inside cradle. Five seconds later as the Raw ring announcer was announcing the result, the Raw feed cut off straight into a KFC commercial. WWE Raw does not enjoy the ability of having overruns anymore and by 11PM ET the show has to be off the air. It’s unclear why the show ran longer than anticipated.

Here is the latest episode of Sammy Guevara’s vlog.:

John Morrison made an in-studio appearance on today’s episode of WWE’s The Bump. You can watch it here

Matt Riddle is no stranger to confrontations with WCW legend and recent WWE guest star Bill Goldberg. After a recent exchange with Stone Cold Steve Austin where Bill stated that he owed The Undertaker “a receipt,” riddle got rid of the pretext and said what we’re all thinking. “You spelled apology wrong, you owe Undertaker an apology bro” Riddle is, of course, referring to Goldberg’s match with The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia this past year, which was less than well-received, to put it mildly. Goldberg appeared in short order on WWE television after the bout for a brief match against Dolph Ziggler, but it seems that Bill still wants to prove himself in the ring. Whether that comes in the form of an Undertaker rematch or giving Matt Riddle what he wants, we’ll have to wait and see.

Evolve has announced a recruitment camp 1/3 to 1/5 in Port Richey, FL. Guest coaches will include Terry Taylor, Steve Corino, Norman Smiley, Sean Hayes, Jeremy Borash, referee D.A,. Brewer and Gabe Sapolsky who all work for WWE. There will also be NXT roster members coaching and those in the camp will get to on the last day do a PPV like show. For more info go to www.WWNLive.com and look for the Seminar/Tryout section.

Jim Ross tweeted a message of support to NXT UK’s Piper Niven after she announced that she was going through an episode of Bell’s palsy: “You look great, young lady! Bell’s palsy is just another bump in the road for you. I’ve had it three times and our only option is to fight through it. Stay positive. You have a bright future.”

On Instagram, John Morrison posted videos of him training at the WWE Performance Center.

On his podcast this week, Jim Cornette said he’s retiring from doing TV pro wrestling commentary. You can listen to it here

Bobby Fulton was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. Oklafan wishes him a full recovery.

Paloma Starr suffered a knee injury this past weekend. Oklafan wishes her a speedy recovery.

Jake Danielsson suffered a major laceration to the eye area at the NAW event this past Saturday. Luckily no serious injury was done and he suffered no loss of eyesight.

Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Rene Goulet, who also competed as Jacques Goulet. He passed away in May at the age of 86, but the death was not reported until December. Goulet, who’s real name was Robert Bédard, had his first match in 1956, but did not start wrestling regularly until 1963. Prior to that, he played several sports, including hockey where he was almost killed when the blade of a skate went through his throat. But he recovered successfully and spent the first several years of his career exclusively in Canada. Eventually, he was persuaded to venture into the United States, competing in the AWA and learning to overcome a language barrier. Goulet would be an AWA regular for much of his first 10 years, but would compete in other federations in the summers, when the AWA did not run as many shows. It was during this time in 1970 that Goulet came to TSW, competing from June to September and forming a partnership with Billy Red Lyons. One year later, ,he ventured into the WWWF, where on December 6, 1971, he and Karl Gotch won the WWWF World Tag Team Titles. But shortly after doing so, Gotch was offered the booking position for New Japan Pro Wrestling and despite being told that they would hold the tag team titles for a year, they lost them on February 1, 1972. Rogers spent quite a bit of time wrestling outside the US after that, competing in Germany as Buddy Rogers, Jr. as well as in Australia. It was at this time that Goulet formed a good friendship with Andre the Giant. In fact, Goulet would be well known as having strong relationships with many big name wrestlers in their early days. He was the first person to defeat Ric Flair and also competed against Hulk Hogan in Hogan’s initial WWWF run. Goulet would continue to bounce in and out of the AWA, at one point forming a tag team with Don Fargo and changing his name to Jacques Goulet and competing in the NWA, but he would find his way back to the WWF where he would gain his greatest notoriety of the modern wrestling era by putting over many top stars. One of those included Tito Santana in the first WWF match televised on the USA network. Goulet retired in 1984 and became a full-time agent for the WWF, a position he would hold until 1997 when he would retire completely from the sport. Goulet has 11 documented matches in Oklahoma. The earliest was a victory over Bruce Kirk in Oklahoma City on June 19, 1970 and last was a tag team match where he teamed with Jean War Eagle and lost to the Hollywood Blondes in Oklahoma City on September 11, 1970. Oklafan extends condolences to Goulet’s family and friends at this time.

here is a 1971 Bill Apter interview with Rene Goulet.

Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Randy Colley, who competed under many names, but is probably best known as Moondog Rex. He was 69 years old. Colley had a plethora of wrestling names, including Jim Dalton & Rip Tyler, both of whom were wrestlers who competed in Oklahoma. But he first made a big impression as Moondog Hawkins, though that name would soon change to Moondog Rex. In 1981, Rex, along with Moondog King, won the WWF World Tag Team Titles. But King, who was Canadian, would run afoul of immigration issues and Rex would continue the reign with Moondog Spot. After losing the tag team titles, Rex would don a mask and be brought in to MSW as The Nightmare by Eddie Gilbert and Oliver Humperdink. On May 22, 1985, The Nightmare defeated Terry Taylor for the MSW North American Title. At that point, Gilbert would rename him as The Champion, the name he would use for the remainder of his reign. He would hold that title for slightly less than three months before losing it to Dick Murdoch on August 10, 1985. Nightmare’s partnership with Gilbert continued and they would defeat Wendall Cooley & Al Perez for the MSW Mid-South Tag Team Titles. But their reign would be very short as approximately 6 weeks later, they would be beaten for the belts by Ted DiBiase and Steve Williams. Colley would resurface in the WWF in 1987 as the original Smash in the team with Demolition. But that partnership did not last very long as allegedly fans recognised Colley as Moondog Rex and would chant “Moondog” at him. This forced the WWF to replace him with Barry Darsow, who would portray Smash for the remainder of Demolition’s existance. But Colley was co-creator of the original gimmick and was able to continue competeing as Detroit Demolition in the Continental Wrestling area from 1988-1989. Colley readopted the name Moondog Rex and entered the NWA in 1990 where his highest profile match was against the Junkyard Dog at Halloween Havoc in 1990. He continued to compete as Rex until May of 1991 when he, Dutch Mantell and Black Bart were packaged together as The Desperados (with Colley now being renamed Deadeye Dick). This gimmick involved them searching for Stan Hansen, wanting to recruit him to their bumbling team. But Hansen wanted nothing to do with the angle, leaving the NWA and the Desperados never officially competed in a match. Going back to the Moondog Rex name, Colley had one final big run in the USWA in 1994, teaming again with Moondog Spike and capturing the USWA World Tag Team Titles on 3 occasions. That would be his last prominent appearance, though he would make appearances in the independent circuit for some time after that. Colley has 7 documented Oklahoma appearances. The earliest was in June, 1985, where he defeated Brad Armstrong in Oklahoma City. The Last was in January 18, 1986, where he lost to Jake Roberts in Muskogee, OK. Oklafan extends condolences to Colley’s friends and family at this time.
