Time for "The Boss" To Put Up Or Shut Up

Time for "The Boss" To Put Up Or Shut Up

Posted: Sep 18th 2007 By: CMBurnham

As if the ego of current UWF06 Champion Jerry Bostic needed any assistance, now he's the champion of the federation. And that came as a surprise to many who walked into the Washington Theatre Friday night, for when they left 1 month prior, D Money still held that gold. But at the end of August, events transpired at a Western Alliance Entertainment event in Arizona that culminated in D Money laying down for Bostic and allowing him to take the gold.

Bostic and his Dynasty tag team partner Dane Griffin arrived in front of the fans in usual shape, full of bravado. Bostic was unusually sarcastic as he "thanked" his mom, dad and all his fans. The Dynasty then wanted an interview, but couldn't remember Frankie Dee's name when she arrived to grant them one in her "Dirty Dish" segment. But Frankie had some rather pointed questions for Bostic, including how much he had paid D Money to get him to lay down and forfeit the title! Bostic avoided that question and any other that Dee threw at him and instead, turned his attention to Thomas Trump. When Trump arrived, Bostic informed him that before D Money retired from pro wrestling, he'd given Bostic an "early Christmas present" and sold his half of the ownership of UWF06 (which he had won in July when Gangsta Nation defeated High Society after Trump turned on them) back to Bostic. Much to Trump's chagrin, this made Trump and Bostic partners!

Never one to lose out on a business opportunity, Trump told Bostic to put up his 50% against Trump's 50%. Winner take all. Bostic waved this off and told Trump that if he entered the UWF Rumble that would be the main event and won it, he would earn a title shot against Bostic and Bostic would agree to the company ownership stipulation as well. Trump accepted and Bostic said he would be at ringside for that match, as he had yet another surprise for Trump.

Trump did enter the UWF Rumble at #11 out of 15, but Bostic's surprise drew the #15 slot--the return of MSWA Mid-South Champion Al Farat! These men, along with UWF06 Texhoma Champion Dane Griffin (who won that title earlier in the night after defeating Montego Seeka for the UWF06 Light Heavyweight Title and changing its name) and UWF06 Violent Division Champion Joe Herell, who had the misfortune to enter at #1, were the final 4 in the Rumble. Trump sensed a great opportunity at hand, but some distraction on the part of Bostic resulted in Trump being thrown over the top rope and injuring his knee upon landing. Griffin was the next man out, leaving Farat and "Ky-ote" Joe. Even though he'd fought his way through the UWF06 roster, Herell still managed to summon enough strength to tumble the much larger Farat over the top rope and won the Rumble and the #1 contender postition for the UWF06 Title.

Bostic now finds himself as a man with a huge target on his back. He is set to face Herell on July 29 for the UWF06 title, but his confidence got the better of him and he offered to defend the belt in any type of match. Herell demanded a Ladder Match and Bostic was forced to agree. And even if he makes it past Herell, Thomas Trump is out there waiting for him and looking for the opportunity to gain that other 50% ownership of the company.

They say it's lonely at the top. And for Bostic, the only way out may be a long fall and crash at the end of the month.
