Wrestling legend Ric Flair launches legal war on WWE and Vince McMahon over Becky Lynch’s ‘The Man’ gimmick

WRESTLING LEGEND Ric Flair is threatening to launch a legal war on the WWE over unauthorised use of Becky Lynch's 'The Man' gimmick.
The Nature Boy has been referring to himself by the same moniker since his heyday back in 1981 - and even holds the trademark for his famous catchphrase, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man."
Lynch, who adopted the nickname last year, has since become one of WWE's biggest stars and is the current RAW Women's Champion.
But the Irish Lasskicker, real name Rebecca Quin, may have to drop the character after Flair's Limited Liability Company registered for 'The Man' trademark last week.
The 32-year-old took to Twitter to profess that she still is "The Man", only for the Nature Boy to hit back with: "To Be The Man, You Gotta Beat THE MAN! #alreadytrademarked".
Now in an interview with TMZ Sports, Flair has revealed that he has been trying to work out an amicable, private agreement in which WWE would pay him to allow Lynch to keep using her nickname.
However, Vince McMahon's company declined to offer, leading the 16-time world champion to escalate the situation to Triple H, before finally filing an application to own the pro-wrestling term, The Man.
Flair revealed that the WWE is annoyed at him for making the move and that it's also caused a rift between himself and his daughter Charlotte.
But the former WCW star is determined to claim what he believes he's rightfully owed to support his family after he's passed on.
He said: "My daughter (Charlotte) is so mad at me because I've filed, not even understanding, it's not with Becky, I have no beef with Becky.
"When I almost died two years ago, one person stayed by me [Wendy]. The whole time -- 31 days in the ICU, 12 days while I was dying on a respirator -- and I'm gonna take care of her, and her family, and my family that has taken care of me no matter what.
"I don't care what the WWE thinks of me personally, I know they love me, but obviously they've lost respect for me.
"Even if I won (the trademark), Becky can have it all day long, I'm glad, but I want the company (WWE) to pay me for it because I'm gonna take care of my family!"
