Kookiez-N-Kream Step Into 3 New Feds, Go Undefeated
Posted: Jun 6th 2019 By: Michael Hunt
This past weekend saw a unique occurrence in Oklahoma wrestling as a tag team made its debut in 3 separate federations in 2 days’ time.
That team is the newly formed pairing of Kookiez-N-Kream, consisting of WCR Tag Team Champion Tego and Jerry Bostic. Normally, Tego pairs up with his fellow WCR Tag Team Champion Ja’Mane, but due to the demands of Ja’Mane’s schedule, sometimes that is not possible and recently, Tego found himself needing a partner for an event. Enter Jerry Bostic and this new pairing found that they functioned just as well as the Step Brothas. But that pairing confined itself to WCR until this past weekend, where not only did they venture into new territory, but those ventures were 100% successful.
The first stop saw Kookiez-N-Kream team up with Tim Rockwell & Striker to face the combination of Bobby Dylan, Steven Cruze, Killbane and BPW Oklahoma Champion Tommy Dean at a special WFC event in Oklahoma City.. While neither of these groupings were regular by any means, Obviously KNK had experience together and even Rockwell & Striker had functioned successfully before. So that quality allowed their team to pull out success and establish KNK as a team that meant business at future WFC events.
From there, Tego & Bostic travelled to Bristow, where they met up with Ja’Mane to debut at BPW. While Tego had made individual appearances there before, Bostic and Ja’Mane were unknown except by reputation. But they certainly made an impression that night. Although the Payroll had lost control of the company at the end of April, they were still the BPW Oklahoma Tag Team Champions. But dissension was slowly building in the group as Thrash lost a singles match to his former tag team partner and Payroll member Jerry Storm. After the Payroll enacted a little revenge by executing a gang-style beating on Storm, Brian Dixon called for competition from the back for the rest of the group. Answering that challenge was Space Age in the form of Elijah Sparks & Super Mojo as well as J. J. Hefley. But almost as soon as the bell rang, Hefley turned in Space Age and revealed that he had taken a payoff from the Payroll to abandon them. This left things at a 3-on-1 scenarios as Hefley eradicated Sparks and Super Mojo simply could not overcome the numbers, quickly falling victim to the Black Hole Sam of Sam Stackhouse and a pinfall.
Dixon was not content with this and called for more competition. And that call was answered by Tego, Ja’Mane and Bostic, who would provide a much bigger challenge to Dixon, Stackhouse & Cody Burns. In what may be a first for Oklahoma wrestling, Dixon, who earlier had been utilizing Samedi’s voodoo stick which he left at ringside after his match, was able to “Get” Tego’s nose and inflict damage on him without even touching him. But apparently some of Samedi’s Magic also rubbed off on Tego and he was able to return the favour. Once the fun and games were over, the action turned up and all 6 men found themselves dishing things out and taking them. Again, the end saw the Payroll upset and on the losing end. And while this was a non-title event, it seems quite likely that BPW Commissioner C. M. Burnham would give either KNK or the Step Brothas combination a BPW Oklahoma Tag Team Title shot after this.
The final stop on the KNK Victory tour saw them make their debut at ASP against the makeshift combination of MSWA eXpress & EmpCW Champion Double D and ASP Mid-American Champion Angel Camacho. With Ja’Mane again in demand elsewhere, KNK found themselves again at a numbers disadvantage as both ASP Women’s Champion Erica and C. M. Burnham were in the corner of their respective men. So KNK decided to try and flip the script. Knowing that both Camacho and D were strong, serious competitors, Bostic & Tego invited them to compete in a dance competition. Camacho and Burnham refused, but D & Tego accepted, although they chose to display ballroom dancing rather than the traditional club-style that Tego & Bostic utilized. By that point, Camacho had had enough and attacked KNK on his own, starting the match. While D & Camacho were both focused on the match, the real problem for both lie in the form of Erica and Burnham, who could not agree on much of anything. Burnham immediately berated Erica for participating in the dance-off, while Erica blamed all the bad things that happened in the match on Burnham or Camacho. With these people not reading from the same book, much less on the same page, KNK saw a great opportunity to capitalise and cause one giant moment o miscommunication, where D ended up kicking Camacho in the head. Moments later, the pinfall occurred and KNK went 3 for 3 on the weekend, while Camacho and D nearly came to blows in the ring.
Obviously, the demand for Kookiez-N-Korean and the Step Brothas has increased after this weekend and it seems quite likely that more of them will be seen around the Oklahoma area. The pairing of Bostic & Tego seem almost guaranteed to win some tag team gold before the end of the year. And as they say, if you aren’t behind them and supporting them in their success, you can just get to steppin’!
