Oklamania III set to invade Heritage Hall Saturday

While Heritage Hall is known for hosting various events as well as several big name musical acts, Saturday night the famed building will be playing host to a different kind of attraction.

The stars from World Class Revolution Wrestling will be in town as they prepare to put on Oklamania III:The Saturday Night Wars.

Last year it was Hardy Murphy Coliseum playing host to the event, where fans got to see the return of the famous Von Erich family to Ardmore, as Kerry escorted Marshall and Ross Von Erich to the ring as they defended their WCR Tag-Team Titles.

This year promises to be no different as the Von Erichs are scheduled to appear along with several other big names from the wrestling world.

Among the names scheduled to appear are Dickson’s own Joe Herrell who is wrestling as “The Chickasaw Warrior Ky-Ote”, as well as Ardmore native “Tego” (Quinzell Pickens).

Some of the big names scheduled to appear at the show this year include former World Championship Wrestling president Eric Bischoff, as well as other former WCW wrestlers including Glacier and Juventud Guerrera, and former WCW Tag Team, and World Heavyweight Champion “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner.

Former Oklahoma High School state wrestling champion Jack Swagger will also be returning to his home state for the show.

According to WCR president and CEO Jerry Bostic, fans who attend the show can expect a family friendly show with a high value on entertainment.

“I’m excited every chance we get to come home and perform in Ardmore,” Bostic said. “When you add to the fact that we’re bringing one of our biggest shows of the year to Ardmore, it’s just a great chance for families to get out and enjoy themselves.”

Perhaps one of the biggest names who will be in attendance this year for the event will be former MLB player Jose Canseco, who recently signed a deal with the promotion.

WCR has had a lot happen over the last 12 months, having gained a national television deal, as well as launching its own streaming service.

“I’m beyond excited getting to return for the third annual Oklamania,” Herrell said. “To be able to have it in my hometown as well for the second straight year is amazing. This is just a tribute to all the people in this area who have supported us over the years and it feels good to be able to give back to them.”

Another wrestler who is excited to be back performing for the event is Sulphur’s own El Fuego Del Sol, who competed and won the WCR Revolutionary title last year at the same event.

“This is where our journey started, and to have it happen at Heritage Hall this year is very special,” Fuego said. “I feel like we’re in the perfect venue. We’ve struggled at times to find our identity as a promotion, but we’ve really started to put our stamp on the entire industry, and this is only the beginning for us.”

Humbling is the word that Pickens used to describe his feelings as he prepares to come home and perform Saturday night.

“To go back to where it all started, for me that is humbling,” he said. “I’m beyond excited to be back in Ardmore. If you’d have told me that in four short years we’d have made the journey that we have, none of us would have believed it. If it wasn’t for our fans, we wouldn’t be where we are today, so we have them to thank most of all.”

Doors for VIP ticket holders will open at 5 p.m. Saturday night with general admission opening at 6 p.m.

Bell time is slated for 7 p.m.
