Former UWF owner Cowboy Bill Watts has been confirmed for appearance at the Ricky Morton benefit show on February 28. Watts? name is synonymous with Oklahoma wrestling. Active in the area in the 60s & 70s, Watts held the TSW North American Title 4 times between 1970 and 1975. He?s also a 5 time TSW U.S. Tag Team Champion and a former Mid-South Tag Team Champion. In 1986, he turned Mid-South Wrestling into the Universal Wrestling Federation in an attempt to expand to a national audience and compete with Vince McMahon and the (then) World Wrestling Federation. But the competition and the oil bust in Oklahoma forced Watts to sell the UWF in 1988 and shut down business. He spent the 1990s in an executive position with both WCW and the WWF before leaving the business and pursuing outside interests.
Also rumoured to appear at the benefit show is Steve Cox. Cox wrestled in the UWF, World Class and the Global Wrestling Federation in the late 80s and early 90s. He was a captain of the football team for the University of Tulsa. His biggest accomplishment in wrestling was holding the WCCW World Tag Team Titles with Michael Hayes twice in 1988.
