Ric Flair Claims He Had Sex With 10,000 Women — But We Did the Math
Posted: Sep 29th 2017 By: Jack Crosbie
Everyone, more or less, knows their number — that is, how many people they've been intimate with over their life. Ric Flair, the legendary pro wrestler, claims that, at the ripe old age of 68, his number sits at 10,000. But Ron Jeremy doesn't believe it and, to be honest, neither do we.
Flair has been struggling with alcoholism for years, and, after a recent health scare, he's opened up to the media like never before. People reported on Tuesday that Flair's claims about his sex life will be elaborated on in an upcoming ESPN documentary. Jeremy, however, told TMZ Sports on Wednesday that he thought that Flair's numbers were bullshit. "To overview, I think he's lying," Jeremy said.
"It's very difficult to get numbers like that," Jeremy said, mentioning Wilt Chamberlain and John Holmes, who both claimed to have slept with 20,000 women. (Here's what she really thinks about your sex number.)
"Seriously, a guy who's gonna have a number like that, every second of the day, must be going like this," he said, miming a thrusting moment.
Let's actually take a closer look. Jeremy assumes Flair started having sex when he was 14, which is pretty young to lose your virginity. Flair's now 68, which gives him about 54 years of full-time sex. In 2014, Jezebel crunched the numbers on how long it would take to have sex 10,000 times (from the perspective of a female escort, someone who doesn't have to deal with a refractory period), and found that, given an average time of 5.4 minutes, it would take 3,333.33 hours of straight sex— 138.88 days — to get to 10,000.
That's a lot of hours — and you've gotta keep it in mind, because that leaves little time for anything else — but because we're looking at partners, not hours here, we have to break it down in a different way. 54 years of sex is 19,710 days. That means Flair was sleeping with a new woman about once every 2 days, which sounds possible for a celebrity at his peak (who doesn't have to spend time meeting, greeting, wining, and dining), but is unreasonable when averaged over a lifetime. (Here's how many times people have sex in one day.)
On top of that, Flair claims to have given up his promiscuous days now that he's with his current fiance, Wendy Barlow. And he's certainly had to take days off sex for work, holidays, and illnesses — including his most recent health troubles.
Studies have shown that men often lie about their sex number. It's possible, though, that after years of hard partying the guy's just lost track and rounded up to a number that seemed accurate. It's not like he has an independently audited spreadsheet, right? (At this point, though, he must know every possible use for lube.)
Unfortunately, Flair says he really wishes he hadn't been that forthcoming with his number, because he doesn't want his grandchildren to know — which they certainly will now. But they'll never know if it's true, so that's something?
