Loss Of Mask Inspires New Levels of Brutality for Gemini

The importance of the mask in professional wrestling cannot be understated.
In Lucha Libre, masks are often put on the line in big matches. Removing a mask from a competitor strips them of their identity and sometimes their respect. The act of stripping a wrestler of his or her mask certainly sends a clear message that their opponent is willing to go to great lengths to gain victory over them.
Back on May 5th, Gemini [2nd] found himself on the receiving end of this behaviour. He had faced Xavior in the opening match of the MSWA card. Gemini is one of the more exciting high-flying stars that MSWA has and has his sights on the MSWA Cruiserweight Title, but Xavior also wants to reclaim that belt from current champion Korvin Sage. The match saw Gemini victorious, but after it was over, Xavior made a shocking attack on Gemini and stripped him of his mask in the middle of the ring. Claiming it as a prize, Xavior proudly displayed it on social media and made claims that Gemini's career was over.
That was far from the truth, although Gemini was not seen for almost 2 months. Then, at the Mid-South Rumble, Gemini returned, accompanied by a masked Michael James. While the aerial competitor from Planet Nine had sported a blue mask in the past, when he made his return, he was clad in red and white. He entered the Rumble at #16. Xavior arrived at #20, carrying the blue and white mask. Immediately the anger showed on Xavior's face and he dropped the mask (adorning a wig head) and made his way into the ring, targeting Gemini. Then, as documented in a previous article, the surprise return of Draven Cross took away Gemini's opportunity in the Rumble as the mammoth former ComPro Champion entered the ring, picked Gemini up and threw him over the top rope down to Xavior. Gemini was then carried out of the arena area, slung over Xavior's shoulder.
This past Friday, Xavior and Gemini faced off against each other again. But before Gemini could even get into the ring, Xavior attacked him from behind. Even the ringside presence of Michael James could do nothing to prevent Xavior and Draven Cross from committing physical atrocities to Gemini on the outside, flinging him around like a wet paper bag and then finally throwing him into the ring.
Amazingly, despite those actions as well as the beating that Xavior put on him through the majority of the match, Gemini was somehow able to find energy to recover from that. And he even managed to position Xavior for the Sliced Bread #2. Seeing that his associate was on the verge of defeat, Cross pulled Gemini out of the ring, earning a DQ loss for Xavior. But that did not matter to either of the brutal duo as they continued the physical punishment on the outside until Michael James was able to chase them off. Things are obviously at a deeply personal level between the two and in the upcoming weeks, it is almost a certainly that these two men will continue to engage each other. Perhaps MSWA is not big enough for both men.
