Ending 16 Years of Secrecy, Adam Asher Reveals His True Name

Ending 16 Years of Secrecy, Adam Asher Reveals His True Name

Posted: Sep 15th 2016 By: Tribune Press Services - IndieTrib.com

After 16 years of secrecy, APOC The Apocalyptic Menace has agreed to reveal his true identity in response to an investigation by The Tribune and the urging of NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) Texoma promoter Robert Langdon of Sherman, Texas.

APOC, a masterful tactician with an old school mentality, tells The Tribune that he will henceforth wrestle under his real name, Adam Asher. The Tribune will brand Mr. Asher as “The Lone Star Apocalypse” in honor of his strong ties to Texas and also as homage to the professional name he bore proudly during his climb to ring prominence.

“He's a major league pro,” Mr. Langdon said. “The announcement revealing Adam's real name represents the next step forward in the evolution of The Apocalypse, who is a long-time mainstay of NWA Texoma. We wish him continued success in his career.”

No Mercy, No Holds Barred

The Mystery Of The Alpha and The Omega

“Apocalypse is not changing his person, his core being,” Mr. Asher said in an exclusive interview. “I am simply revealing a new facet of my personality and identity.”

Mr. Asher's identity is wrapped-up in Biblical symbolism, which is fitting to a redeemed man from Purgatory who broke into professional wrestling in February of 2000 with a group called the Christian Wrestling Federation.

“Adam is the first man,” The Lone Star Apocalypse said. “And the Apocalypse is the end of mankind, the end of the world — so we enter into the mystery of the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

“Biblical allusion has been a part of my professional persona from the very beginning,” he continued. “All I'm doing now is moving into a new phase of my career. And frankly, I'm glad to be wrestling at last under my real name.”

A Struggle with The Darker Side

A Storm and The Dark Circle

Mr. Asher's tag partner, the great NWA champion Tim Storm, will tell you that his forever friend sometimes drifts toward the dark side of being — an ambiguity of inspiration Mr. Storm also shares. No wonder the pair wrestle under the tag title The Dark Circle.

Together the team Asher-Storm holds the tag team championships of XCW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) in Denton, Texas, and VIP Wrestling in Fort Worth, Texas. Both champions claim NWA Texoma in Sherman as their home company.

In addition to his NWA Texoma Texas Heavyweight belt, Mr. Asher is the North Texas Wrestling Alliance (NTWA) Heavyweight Champion and the longest reigning Heavyweight Champion of Professional Championship Wrestling (PCW) in Arlington, Texas.

The Heavens or The World Below?

“Purgatory, Colorado, is my birthplace, and it's a name that fits one of the most perplexing aspects of my professional life,” Mr. Asher admitted. “I'm sometimes caught between the heavenly viewpoint, where I do right and obey the rules…” PAUSE “…and the ways of the darker side, the ways of the world, where I decide to do whatever it takes to win.”

Fire, Fire,And More Fire

A Practical Response, To the Vagaries of Social Media

On a practical level, the shift away from the names The Apocalypse and APOC the Apocalyptic Menace will allow Mr. Asher to enhance his online presence in the ever-present realm of social media, especially on Facebook, where so-called “unreal” names aren't allowed.

“Facebook claimed I wasn't a real person, not a verifiable human being,” Mr. Asher said. “They killed my pages. Now everyone will know exactly who I am.

“In a way, the number one driver of my agreeing to have my secret revealed is rooted in the rules of the game with Facebook,” he continued. “The investigation by The Tribune will actually help me remain relevant in this new era of social media as I accept the absolute need to have an online presence.”

Not only fiery, but also practical! Way to go, Mr. Adam Asher. Like Cher and the Motley Crew, like KISS and Guns and Roses, you grasp the value of reinventing yourself in midstream. We look forward to meeting you once again along the great highway — in Texas, the highways go on forever — as we trudge the happy road of destiny.
