Jaymes & Chambers Put Gallows On Express To Hell
Posted: Aug 25th 2016 By: Michael Hunt
Sometimes, in wrestling, success is not enough. Sometimes there are bigger motivators. Jealousy. Anger. Or, in many instances, money.
The Mid-South Express have been MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions almost 6 months. In that time, they have established dominance over the tag team picture in MSWA. They disposed of the Creepsters, Nemesis and essentially any team looking to challenge them for their tag team titles. So, like any over achieving wrestler (or wrestlers), they began to look for other challenges to occupy their time.
On July 29th, the main event saw Prince Mahali challenge BCW Buzzsaw and WFC Hometown Heroes Champion Drake Gallows. This was a huge proving round test for Mahali, who had certainly made waves in the Cruiserweight Division. But Gallows was no Cruiserweight and was not going to take it easy on Mahali just because some would consider him a smaller guy. Gallows wanted to prove to everyone, but especially to MSWA Mid-South Champion Mr. Barnes and his manager, C. M. Burnham, that even though he no longer held the MSWA Title, his career was far from over.
The match proceeded as many would expect, with Gallows showing an early control, only to be caught off guard by an underhanded tactic on the part of Mahali. Gallows rallied and was on his way to victory when a mistiming knocked the referee out. That moment brought out Will Chambers, who slowly but confidently made his way to the ring and got into the face of Drake Gallows. There was no explanation for this and fairly quickly Tyson Jaymes was out, apparently to try and get in between his partner and Gallows. But then the Mid-South Express struck, engaging in a beatdown on Gallows and leaving him laying, then helping to revive the referee so that Mahali could get the pinfall.
Two weeks later, at the culmination of the MSWA event, Bud Barnes made an attack on Psycho Mike, which brought out much of the locker room, including Drake Gallows. Also present was MSWA Commissioner Adam Patrick and Board of Directors member Mike Iles. As Patrick was doling out consequences for the actions of Barnes and MSWA Mid-South Cruiserweight and MSWA Oklahoma Champion Brock Landers, Gallows grabbed the microphone and begged for a one-on-one match with Will Chambers. Patrick was swift to grant that match and it seemed that allows would be able to gain at least a modicum of revenge.
But while Patrick banned Landers and Burnham from the building on the special event MSWA held on August 14th, he did nothing in regards to Tyson Jaymes. And that was the key to the end of the match. As before, Gallows held is own against the young champion. Using his experience and hard-hitting style, Gallows seemed assured of walking away victorious in this event. But at a most inopportune time, Jaymes hopped up on the ring apron, drawing the attention of the referee. That allowed Chambers to go behind Gallows and kick him in the groin, making it simple for a pinfall to occur. Once again, the team aspect and numbers game had cost Drake Gallows a victory.
And, as before, the Mid-South Express were not done after their initial actions caused some damage. Post-match saw both men engage in a 2-on-1 beatdown of Gallows, which ultimately left him laying. And after the damage was done, Jaymes and Chambers simply walked away, knowing they had done what they came there to do: send a message.
The question now on the minds of the MSWA fans is: Why? Why did the Mid-South Express turn on the fans and their former friends? Was it boredom? Was it jealousy of Gallows? Or, was it something else? Rumours have made their way to Oklafan that C. M. Burnham was actually responsible for the conversion of Tag Team Champions to the dark side. While this still remains unconfirmed, on the day of the initial attack, Burnham did promise to make allows suffer and suggested he should have quit while he was behind. If Burnham is assembling a stable of some sort, he already has the MSWA Champion and seems to be on friendly terms with Brock Landers. That would only leave MSWA Ladies and IZW Womens Champion Skylar Slice for him to recruit and he would have every active champion in MSWA employing his services.
