JR's Blog: New Blog,JR on CBS Radio Summer Slam Special with Taz, Moose to Ross Report, Fox Sports, McGregor Fishing!

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the best kept secret in the wrestling business, our website! Big week in store as tonight *Monday( I will be catching up with old friend Tommy Dreamer for a future Ross Report Podcast plus put the finishing touches on this week's show which features TNA Impact Wrestling's "Moose" Ojinnaka on a new show that drops as usual on Tuesday night at 9 pm ET on podcatone.com & iTunes. Subscribe for FREE at iTunes and never miss a show as they will be downloaded into the device of your choice automatically.

It's Summer Slam week in WWE land as they ready themselves for an amazingly successful weekend in Brooklyn where they will sellout the Barclay Center three straight days which is nothing short of spectacular. It is likely that many fans take that success for granted but as one who is in the biz of selling tickets to our 'RINGSIDE with Jim Ross and Friends' shows, I can tell you that this accomplishment is pretty damn awesome.

Summer Slam looks to be potentially one of WWE's best, pure in ring wrestling shows in recent memory as there are multiple matches that have a legit shot at 'stealing the show.' I'll have my predictions coming soon.

Speaking of tickets, one week away on Monday August 22, the day after Summer Slam, tickets for our two, Wrestlemania shows in Orlando will go one sale at www.ticketfly.com at 10 am ET. Last year we were fortunate enough to sell out three shows in Dallas at the House of Blues plus the VIP meet and greet tickets sold out thd every first day that tickets went on sale. Only 100 of the "Slobber Knocker" VIP tickets are available for each show so please consider getting yours early if you can.

We will also be taking our RINGSIDE show to Nashville for the first time in November and tickets for this eagerly anticipated show will go on sale later this month and we will provide you all the info that you need as soon as it has been finalized.

I spent four days working on my latest Fox Sports piece which is on Summer Slam through the eyes of the men and women who lived it. I talked with Steve Austin, HBK, HHH, Mick Foley, Madusa, Paul Heyman,Jim Cornette, Tony Schiavone, Matt Hardy, Eric Bischoff, Dave Meltzer, and Taz plus my own memories of the Summer time spectacular. FoxSports.com will post this piece mid week and I will keep you informed here and via my Twitter account at @JRsBBQ.

Conor McGregor is 'fishing' again as he angles to get wrestling fans and specifically WWE fans to buy his PPV in hopes of seeing Nate Diaz shut the Irishman's mouth. Personally, I think that UFC 202 this Saturday night will be a highly entertaining show on PPV and I planned on buying it and enjoying it for sure long before McGregor began is anti pro wrestling tirades as the return match versus Diaz has my interest. Don't be shocked if McGregor loses again especially if he decides to be stubborn and not tweak his previous game plan versus Diaz.

Seemingly many in the pro wrestling biz who responded the first time that McGregor titillated them have 'smartened up' this go around but the controversial fighter is still getting plenty of publicity from the media who love to cover the walking sound byte.

Bill Goldberg, representing WWE 2K17 will be in Brooklyn this weekend doing some promotional work for the video game but could we end up seeing more? Goldberg is in fighting shape and has publicly expressed that he would love to step back in the ring one more time, can you say Wrestlemania in Orlando? Tht feels like a long shot at best but it is certainly an intriguing idea that many fans would covet.

I floated an idea to Bill's management team and WWE 2K17 about doing a Q&A with my Oklahoma friend this weekend but finding a suitable venue in the Brooklyn area was daunting and obviously will not occur.

Upon talking to Shawn Michaels for our next Fox piece, he shared with me that he and his family have relocated to Florida from Texas and that he will be doing some work in the WWE Performance Center which will be a Godsend for the students there. Shawn's 2002 Summer Slam match vs HHH is one of my all time favorite bouts that I ever broadcast and Michaels returning to the ring after a four year layoff and picking up where he left off is nothing short of extraordinary and solidifies to many that HBK is the greatest in ring performer of all time. This is a tremendous 'get' for WWE even if Shawn is only part time and will make their Performance Center even stronger. Shawn shared with me his genuine excitement to help coach they young talents when his schedule permits and also be a much needed mentor to them.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has a timely story on this matter today as well.

We live in a society where mentoring is seemingly a lost art form and a role that needs many more people to become involved. Bravo to WWE on this one.

I'm told from TNA personnel that the announcement that Billy Corrigan taking over the day to day management of the company has largely reinvigorated the roster. "We now have a chance" I was told. I'm a wrestling fan and hope that all companies promoting the genre are successful and any fan who thinks otherwise isn't truly a fan.

ROH's Death Before Dishonor PPV is this Friday night from Las Vegas and will include many of the stars from New Japan Pro Wresting and can be accessed on PPV via the FITE TV app. I'm watching for sure and hope that you will consider watching too especially if you enjoy, bell to bell content more than not.

Honored to be traveling to the UK in October to do a Q&A with JIm Cornette in London and to also partner with JC to broadcast the Refuse to Lose PPV from Newcastle on October 6. Two great days in England that have me excited to be back in the saddle especially to call an outstanding PPV event with the likes of Kurt Angle, Jay Lethal and Cody Rhodes booked on this show thus far.

This will be a ball buster of a week as I will fly from Newcastle to London to Dallas arriving in DFW on Friday which is the day before the Oklahoma vs Texas Red River Rivalry in the Cotton Bowl that I will not miss. Looking forward to it all!

Very excited to be tagging with my old broadcast partner Taz on CBS Radio nationally after Summer Slam this Sunday night on CBS radio stations national wide. This is huge for Taz who is dong a superb job for CBS Radio on his morning show, The Taz Show. More details to come! For all the info on this audio spectacular visit www.tazshow.com.

Remember to subscribe to The Ross Report podcast @iTunes for FREE and never miss one of our shows as they will be automatically downloaded into the device of your choice. Thanks so much for your support and always know that we are grateful.
