Giganto Kicks Bum Bum And Hangs Flag Flag to Gain Revenge On Cole

Giganto Kicks Bum Bum And Hangs Flag Flag to Gain Revenge On Cole

Posted: Aug 12th 2016 By: Michael Hunt

Many times wrestling rivalries a based around simple things such as a desire to be champion or a personal issue between two competitors. Sometimes competitors just do not like each other. In most of those instances, the source of dislike is because of similarity.

In the case of Giganto and Trey Cole, there could not be two people any more dissimilar.

Trey Cole is a southern-born redneck. Working class. Loyal to the ideals of the Old South. Outspoken, crude and generally unpleasant.

Giganto is a unique, fun-loving individual. A favourite of the children with a simple, straight-ahead plan for beating his opponents.

Giganto is an established star in ComPro and a former ComPro Showtime Champion. Trey Cole has been an SRPW Tag Team and United States Champion, but wanted to make an impact on ComPro. He felt he could do so by using Giganto.

It was a decision that ultimately proved to be wrong.

It started out well for Cole, though. On June 24th, Cole and Giganto faced off in their first 1-on-1 encounter. As the battle went outside the ring, referee Chance Snodgrass initiated the standard 10-count. Cole grabbed ring announcer Tuck Davion and used him as a shield, thrusting him at Giganto, then taking the opportunity to attack the masked man-ape from behind before sliding back in the ring. Making it in by 8, Snodgrass finished the count and declared Cole the winner by Countout. It was the first salvo in the war between the two and Cole walked away as the victor.

Two weeks later, the two met again and Giganto went in with revenge on his mind. Sadly, as much as Giganto is lovable, he is not known as a thinking wrestler and Cole took full advantage of that. This time, when Giganto backed Cole into his own corner, Cole grabbed his southern flag and threw it on top of the head of the referee. Before the ref could remove the flag, Cole kicked Giganto in the groin, making it easy for him to get the pinfall victory. This put Cole at 2-0 in victories over Giganto and fueled the desire for revenge even further for Giganto.

That victory also put Cole in contention for the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title and one week later, Cole received his shot at champion Adrian Dell. Cole went in confident, believing that this would be an easy scenario and another notch in the win column for him at ComPro, but Giganto put the end to that as he came out during that match and, with the referee distracted, proceeded to kick the bum-bum of Trey Cole, setting Dell up for victory. While it may not have fully avenged the loss for Giganto, it was certainly a step in the right direction.

Cole demanded another match with the masked man-ape and it was granted on July 29th. This match did not last long, though, as Cole grabbed the Rebel Flag and began blatantly choking Giganto in front of the referee. Security had to be called in and Giganto was helped to the back after the vicious attack. Ring announcer Tuck Davion then announced to the crowd that ComPro Co-Commissioner C. M. Burnham, who was at the MSWA event in Oklahoma City that evening, had been watching the live-stream of the event and had seen what Cole had done. He told Tuck to announce to the fans, and especially to Cole, that if Cole wanted to use "that stupid flag", he would be glad to make that possible as on August 5th, the two would settle their differences in a Flag Match!

August 5th could not come fast enough for Giganto. But even with this match being set up to resolve everything between the two, Cole still had some tricks up his sleeve. Knowing there was No Disqualification in a Flag Match, Cole chose to focus more on the use of chairs then on hanging the flag to win. It was apparent very early that Cole wanted to hurt Giganto and winning was simply a bonus in the equation. On two occasions, Cole attempted to hang the flag, but Giganto made certain that did not happen. So, as in their first encounter, Cole took the match to the outside. And then the chairs came into play. Giganto absorbed lots of punishment from chairs, but the real moment of truth came when Cole stacked a small pile of chairs in the ring and prepared to powerbomb Giganto onto it. It seemed like a small miracle when Giganto was able to reverse this and Cole ended up laying on top of the stack, writhing in pain. At that point, Giganto moved to hang the flag. It took some time, but Giganto eventually got it up there and was declared the victor in the match.

For both men, there are now different goals. For Giganto, the 10th anniversary show for ComPro looms. While he does not yet have an opponent announced, that situation seems sure to be resolved in the coming weeks. For Trey Cole, a date with the members of the Initiative seems to be around the corner as their actions at the last UWE event may have put Ethan Cole on the disabled list for the time being.

But hopefully, for both men, some wisdom and respect as come out of this brief feud. And both can now take their careers further forward.
