Slice No Treat For Phoebe In Statewide Competition

There have been few female competitors in Oklahoma more impressive than MSWA Ladies Champion Skylar Slice. Some would say she has the most deserving nickname of any competitor: Dominant.

Slice has run roughshod over any and all competition placed in front of her, but recently had a bit of an issue with a newcomer to the Oklahoma ranks: Phoebe.

Slice and Phoebe are both mainstays of the Women's Division in ComPro, but Phoebe has also begun to branch out to other Oklahoma federations and run afoul of Slice.

A little under a month ago, on July 15, Slice teamed up with Taylor K to face Phoebe and Killista. This followed on the heels of Phoebe upsetting Slice and K in a Triple Threat match. Phoebe absorbed quite a bit of punishment until finally making the tag to Killista. Killista caught K and turned her over in a Single Le Boston Crab, but Slice entered and broke that up. This brought Phoebe into the ring, who got in the face of Slice, protesting that she was not the legal participant for her team and should not be in there. Slice threw her to the corner, then turned around as Killista came out of her corner with a Big Boot, but Slice avoided it and Killista ended up connecting with Phoebe, allowing Slice & K to pick up the win.

The next night, both Slice and Phoebe competed in separate matches for IZW. Slice successfully defended her IZW Women's Title against Erica, but Phoebe was unable to pick up a victory against Killista. But there was certainly some tension in the locker room between the two prior to the show as clearly Phoebe wanted to get her hands on Slice and show she was no one to be pushed around.

That opportunity came for Phoebe one week later at the ComPro event back in Tulsa as Slice and Phoebe squared off 1-on-1. Well, not exactly 1-on-1 as Slice had her La Familia members Thomas Knight and newly-crowned ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Nathan Estrada at ringside with her. Despite attempts by La Familia to distract her (primarily by playing with her hula hoop), Phoebe remained focused. Towards the end of the match, Phoebe executed her signature Twist-A-Round, followed by a Facebuster, which got her a near fall. But as she climbed the ropes, Estrada pulled at her leg, distracting her long enough to allow Slice to show incredible strength by catching her on a Flying Crossbody and executing a backbreaker. At that point, Slice was confident of victory and told the crowd it was over, but as she hoisted Phoebe for the BackSlice, Phoebe slipped down her back and cradled her for the pin! It could only be considered an upset and the resulting tantrum thrown by Slice in the middle of the ring was a joy for the ComPro fans to witness.

One week later, Slice and Phoebe would find themselves in competition again, this time along with Killista and Nikki Knight in a Fatal 4-Way match. But it would not be just pride on the line this time. It would be the MSWA Ladies Title. Initially, action saw Slice paired off with former champion Knight while Phoebe took on Killista. But eventually, Phoebe and Slice were competing against each other. Slice again fell victim to the Twist-A-Round/Facebuster combination, but rolled out of the ring before Phoebe could make a pin attempt. Killista tried to take advantage and pin Phoebe, but Knight broke that up, not wanting to lose her chance to regain the title she felt was still hers. Knight quickly tied Killista up in a PTO-style submission move, but Slice came back in the ring, broke that up, then slapped on a similar move to Killista. As Phoebe was making her way back into the ring, Killista could not endure the pain any longer and tapped out. Slice, who suffered a bloody nose in the course of the match, was victorious. But if given her druthers, would rather have had Phoebe in the submission so as to gain some revenge.

Revenge would have to wait for just one more day as Phoebe made her UWE debut against Slice. The match was very similar to the one they had at ComPro just a week before, but without the presence of La Familia at ringside. The determination and exuberance of Phoebe carried her close to victory, but ultimately the experience edge and a well-placed BackSlice brought the victory to Slice.

That leaves their singles record against each other at one win apiece and it seems likely that the tie-breaker between them may come soon at ComPro as the tournament for the ComPro Women's Title will kick off soon. Both Phoebe and Slice are obvious entrants in that tournament, but no official information has been released recently. However, ComPro Co-Commissioner C. M. Burnham has informed Oklafan that a statement pertaining to the tournament will be made by him this coming Friday night.
