AJ Styles wants ex-TNA wrestlers Bobby Roode and Eric Young to come to the WWE
Posted: Mar 29th 2016 By: Mayer Nissim
A. J. Styles has said that he would like to see Bobby Roode and Eric Young in the WWE.
Styles enjoyed an 11-year run in TNA before eventually making his WWE debut in this year's Royal Rumble.
Meanwhile, both Roode and Young had 12-year runs in TNA before their recent departures.
Asked which talent from the company he would like to see join the WWE, Styles told Digital Spy and other journalists: "There's some guys who used to wrestle for the other company in the US that are not working there any more.
"Bobby Roode and Eric Young - I would want to see those guys make their way on over."
Of whether he could still become a WWE World Heavyweight Champion at nearly 40, Styles said: "I'm 38 - so there's definitely still some time, I can get some things done.
"You're only as old as you feel and I feel pretty young. I've got one gear and till it gets reversed I'm going all out."
Asked how his signing first came about, Styles said: "I had some opportunities coming up with people I was going to sign with.
"I thought, 'Well, you know what? There's been some talk on the internet and I'll just go and give WWE a call and see what's up.'
"One thing led to another, the ball started rolling pretty quick once it got started, and me and Triple H got it done."
Quizzed on the biggest difference between the WWE and other places he has worked, Styles said: "The main difference is that it's very professional here in the WWE. Not that they weren't professional before, but there's little things.
"The little things that make things work so much smoother and better are done very well in the WWE. That's the biggest thing."
He continued: "Wrestling in Japan, obviously the fans are a little bit different - very quiet, very respectful in New Japan - but here in the WWE these fans are going nuts.
"That's what we love. We want them to go nuts, we want them to go crazy, because we get energy from them.
"When we see them going nuts, we get a little nuts, and when we get a little nuts, it's just good for everybody - so it's great."
Asked about Chris Jericho kicking out of the Styles Clash during their feud, Styles said: "It is what it is. I've had people kick out of the Styles Clash before - it's not something that hasn't happened before.
"It's just one of those things. It was part of the match and it was a very good one! The finish came shortly after that with the Calf Crusher. It was still a great match."
He continued: "I hope to have more than one main weapon. I have the Phenomenal Forearm as we're calling it now, the Calf Crusher - the Styles Clash is still available.
"I like to have a lot of alternative moves to hit people with and whatever seems to work is what I'll go with."
Of his ambitions in the WWE, Styles said: "First and foremost is to actually make it to WrestleMania. To be on there.
"And to go on and just have a spectacular match. Then to make my presence known even more than the amount of time I've been here.
"I want to be known as AJ Styles, the WWE Superstar that he is, and have amazing matches, make memories - I think that's the goal."
AJ Styles has challenged Chris Jericho to a match at WrestleMania 32, which you can watch live on the WWE Network this Sunday night, April 3.
