JR's Blog: Mickie James on Ross Report, RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross SRO,Hulk/WWE, Raw/Philly

The Raw broadcast from Philly was audibly unlike most Philly crowds which usually means that they aren't seeing what they would prefer. That's generally the case based on my experiences. Nonetheless I watched the show late Monday night on DVR so I could have lost of the the sizzle of the show with my hand on the fast forward button. It was far from a bad show but it's obvious to most that having a great, THREE hour pro wresting show simply is not too likely for anyone and not just WWE.

The McMahon added stipulation to the HIAC match for control of RAW featuring Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker has generated a fair amount of speculation. That's good as at least folks are talking about the match and the event more, or so it seems.

I see Taker wining at Wrestlemania but stranger things could happen as this, as in most pro wrestling storylines, can go multiple, 'right ways.' You can bet the farm that WWE is not going to squander the Undertaker's 'retirement' without marketing it to the hilt.

The IC Title Wrestlemania match gets 13 days promotion which seems like a rush job but it puts the 7 talents on the show and in a position to go out and overachieve and create 'moments.' Why would they approach it any other way?

BTW...did any thing on RAW truly exceed the Kevin Owens vs AJ Styles match?

Loved seeing the beloved, grizzled veteran Terry Funk on RAW as he gave Dean Ambrose a helluva 'rub' just as Mick Foley did earlier. Hope WWE has viable plans for Ambrose post 'Mania and after he's likely physically decimated by Brock Lesnar in Texas. If the soundtrack is spot on, Ambrose can 'get over' in a big way even in a losing effort against the @HeymanHustle meal ticket. That's great for a broadcaster to be able to go into a major match and know that both participants can come out smelling like my Mama's Cinnamon Apple Chocolate Dumplings if all goes well.

Looking forward to the AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho bout at WM32 and a Styles win will help him continue to evolve upward on WWE cards. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that AJ won't be a viable main eventer for WWE and I express those sentiments on future AXSTV, NJPW TV shows where I'm allowed to be open minded and free speaking but all the while keeping the focus on what you are seeing.

Had a great time in Phoenix and saw many old friends while broadcasting the most unique PPV I've ever been associated with for URshow.tv. The Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio match was an excellent two out of thee falls affair that was the highlight of the night. Watch the replay on VOD @FITE TV App. The staff of URshow.tv were great hosts and I hope that I am able to work with them again.

It is 'highly unlikely', credit to Gorilla Monsoon, that the Hulkster will ever get all his money that he recently was awarded from the Gawker law suit. However I do think that he will score some serious change at least it would be serious cash for a red neck, wannabe BBQ mogul like me. I'd love to see Hogan get compensated for his issues as he will likely be much more discerning with matters such as this in the future while the late Gorilla Monsoon might exclaim, "WILL YOU STOP?!" For those pontificating as to whether or not Hulk will ever return to WWE in some role I will state for the record that it would be 'highly unlikely' if he did NOT return to WWE even if it was a one off type of booking sometime in the future. Obviously, Wrestlemania Texas isn't in the cards or so I would think. Just my two cents but Hulk Hogan is too big a part of the foundation of WWE to be 'exiled' forever.

The Kushida vs Kyle O'Reilly match for the Best of the Super Juniors Championship in New Japan Pro Wrestling that airs on AXSTV this Friday night at 9/8 T is a classic, pro wrestling match and both men should be congratulated. It was one of the best matches that I have seen on TV in years and it was a pleasure to be able to call it along side Josh Barnett. I hope that you will tell a fellow wrestling fan about it and enjoy this match that lasts the entire hour come Friday night. This bout will hold up for years to come.
