A Weekend Pass from the Asylum Leads to Nurse Sanity's Big Adventure

Posted: Jan 25th 2016 By: Tribune Staff

Nurse Sanity's weekend pass from the Brookhaven Insane Asylum turned into quite an adventure, leading her all the way to Nebraska and a pitched ring battle amongst an army of monster trucks on the cold night of Saturday, January 16.

Lured by the Bad Boys of Wrestling to headline the Border Wars show at the Grand Island Monster Truck Winter Nationals and Thrill Show in south-central Nebraska, Nurse Sanity found herself in the ring with the formidable Skylar Slice in a match that quickly took an unexpected turn.

A crowd of 4,000 ? and yes, ye doubters out there, it was four thousand! ? watched as Bigg Dogg from an animal shelter in Kansas raced into the ring not long after Nurse Sanity had begun to pound Skylar senseless. Apparently Bigg Dogg was smitten by the comely Miss Slice and decided to come to her assistance.

Dogg-and-Cat Fight

"Not fair!" shouted referee Spike Lopez, who promptly ripped off his ref's shirt to reveal a pro wrestler's physique. Spike and Nurse Sanity had become unlikely partners. In an instant, a match between two accomplished women wrestlers was transformed into a mixed tag team dogg-and-cat fight. A substitute ref climbed into the ring ... and the scene was set.

Surrounded by a legion of monster trucks and a foot-deep of compacted dirt and mud at the Heartlands Event Center, the four pros staged a rousing match that was ultimately decided when Skylar pinned Spike. "It wasn't fair because they double-teamed him," Nurse Sanity told The Tribune. "It was not fair. If I get a hold of her again, I'm going to break her in half."

Those Trucks Just Couldn't Compete

We asked the good Nurse to chill for a minute and forget about her nemesis Miss Slice. "OK," she said. "Nebraska was really neat despite the outcome. The wrestling show wasn't supposed to be the main attraction, but the crowd responded to us more than they did the monster trucks. It's been a long time since I've worked before that many people. It was pretty cool."

The Bab Boys promoters billed the show as a border battle between wrestlers from Oklahoma and Nebraska. We're not counting, but we suppose Nebraska must have won. Oklahoma fan favorite Eric Spanish Fly Estrada fell to Bigg Dogg in a singles match, and Sooner State pro Canadian Red Devil and his tag-team partner were on the losing end of their match against The Midwest Marvels.

"I'm going back," Nurse Sanity told us. "I do like those big trucks!"
