JR's Blog: 'Bookerman' Kevin Sullivan Ross Report Podcast Earning Milestone Numbers, Mick Foley, Steve Austin Podcast, Toby Keith, Dreamer is RAW, Order JR's Online for the Holidays

Posted: Dec 3rd 2015 By: Jim Ross

Our Ross Report Podcast this week with Kevin Sullivan is getting amazing feedback of which we sincerely appreciate. It's honest and true and SO eye opening. It's part one of a two parter at podcastone.com @PodcastOne and @iTunes and I strongly suggest that you make the time to listen to it as it's FREE and is loaded with amazing, often times eye opening and jaw dropping content. He talks booking, Eddie Graham, Dusty, WCW Jim Herd and so much more. Sully has no agenda and certainly tells it like it is.

Getting lots so of questions regarding Mick Foley's recent comments on his Facebook account. Not sure what folks are looking for from me. I can only be honest. I love Mick like family, I really do. Mick is SO passionate about a variety of things which I find amazingly admirable. Mick loves WWE, the company that helped him earn a great deal of wealth and he's simply telling us how he feels about the 'home team.' I sincerely respect Mick's opinion whether I agree with him or not. For the most part, however, I do agree with him inasmuch as WWE talents need to be allowed to be more of themselves and not what someone in creative perceive them to be. I also agree, and have said it here many times, that 50-50 booking needs to disappear. It helps no one. How could it? Bottom line is Mick Foley is a good, decent man who is merely expressing himself and I hope those that should be listening are doing so.

Great talents in pro wrestling who can't lose and keep their 'buzz' aren't ready for primetime. Non finishes leave today's fans feeling, arguably, empty unless it's the youngest part of the demographic that is watching. Many main event level talents I've known through the years have been able to actually 'get over' while losing if it isn't habitual and is timely.

Cowboy Bill Watts used to say always come to work with a way to win, a way to lose and a way to have a non finish if required and Watts was the best 'booker' that I ever worked with in my career. BTW this is no knock on Vince McMahon, by the way, as he's he most amazing visionary, including Ted Turner, that I've worked with in sports entertainment, by far. Not kissing ass just being honest.

Rumors of me returning to the announce table are overtly premature. If it's true, I wish someone would let me in on it. Going on the road every week and enduring the travel regime isn't on my radar.

Here's a cold hard fact...the pro wrestling business is going through a challenging time and one of the reasons is and always will be creative but is isn't the only reason. Talents need to look in the mirror, too. Change your game....expand what you do....known your role....add to your repertoire...study the game and never take your eye off the prize of being better today than you were yesterday in all areas of your life.

Cool podcast with Steve Austin and Mick Foley on Steve's podcast at podcastone.com. Check it out. Good stuff by two honest, educated wrestling people.

Enjoyed going to Bedlam, OU vs OSU football, last Saturday with Toby Keith and, yes, we talked a little about the pro wrestling business of which Toby is a big fan. Never say never.

Biggest highlight for me on Monday Night RAW was the booking of Tommy Dreamer with the Dudley Boyz. Loved it. It's always good to see 'Big Beefy' whose House of Hardcore is a growing brand.

Congrats to Mick Foley's kids Dewey and Noelle who, according on-line reports, are preparing to go to work with WWE. Dewey will apparently be a member of the creative team while the lovely Noell is going to be an TV interviewer. If these rumors are true I hope that the Foley kids have long, productive careers. Happy for them.

Whoever started the 'JR to TNA' rumors must have WAY too much time on their hands. Last I looked Josh Mathews and The Pope were handling the announcing on TNA just fine. Plus, isn't the stellar Mike Tenay still on TNA's payroll?

Same goes for my tongue in cheek remark about getting coffee for Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino at a ROH PPV and sitting in with them on a show. They, too, don't need me but would I make a 'one off' cameo for a wrestling promotion if the stars were all aligned properly? Never say never. The key is 'one off' and it would take some convincing to get me to leave Norman and get on more airplanes.
